I did a lot of research before purchasing a Lollipop. The name would have turned me off except that in my hobby, beer brewing, a lot of fellow brewers have for years said that this was the most accurate thermometer available for under $100.00. When I finally broke my certified lab mercury thermometer I purchased this one. It must have shipped the same day I ordered because it got here in two days. I checked and it reads fast and has an impressive certification sheet with it. The 8" probe and waterproof design is perfect for checking mash temperatures at various depths which was not possible with my mercury thermometer. Great buy! (and it looks cute as well)

I am not one to complain especially publicly but this product is not waterproof as it says in the brochure and product description. I bought this thing to brew beer, basically boiling water. It lasted 2 months before it stopped working completely. I called control company, the OEM, and was given a nice serving of attitude. I told customer service the issue and my application of the product. I was told the its a digital product and shouldn't get wet or be exposed to steam. I asked why then do they advertise it as watweproof. The rep then reiterated that it was a digital device and asked me if I would throw my waterproof cell phone in a pool. I told her that if it was waterproof I would. I tried getting my money back bc its false advertisement but they wouldn't do it. I am goin to send it back for repair. Even if they fix it, the thing is useless to me. Not waterproof.

Works well, not waterproof December 23, 2011

These thermometers work well, but they are NOT waterproof. Both of mine fell into very hot water and water entered the electronics. I opened the battery compartment and dried them over a low-wattage lamp. They still work; although, the display sometimes fades.

If you buy this, treat it as if the electronics were exposed. Don't believe the "waterproof" label. Reviews of other thermometers indicate that some other products are waterproof, as advertised.

EXCELLENT thermometer
