This documentary makes it clear that Scientology is not just some kooky religion for celebrities, it's actually a corrupt and criminal organization whose tactics are petty and malicious.

This is one of those above par documentaries about a family trying to escape the clutches of a cult religion. A religion that and not unlike the major religions was completely fabricated.

I have a feeling the lower reviews here are part of that same mechanism that this documentary attempts to expose.

I am often skeptical about critiquing one religion over another because they all have their good and bad points. Usually one can find enough good in any given religion to not totally condemn it... perhaps only chastise and work to change parts of it that seem anti-progressive or nonsensical. That said, some religions have bad points that far out way the good.

After seeing this and feeling confident in the honesty and accuracy of Marty Rathbun's retelling of his high level experiences within Scientology, I can only say that I feel for whomever joins this organization without first being a financially wealthy person.

There are aspects of Scientology that I've read about over the years that I like and appreciate very much, but no way would I ever consider joining an organization which treats its members like this.

Its always good to hear a dissenting viewpoint and then decide for yourself.

This documentary is worth viewing.

Any sort of education, even one that costs $3.99, is worth it's weight in gold. A must watch for seekers of truth.

I've read several of the books about the leaders of the church that have escaped...this film didn't go through all of that like the books do but it's enough to see how they choose to harass those people who chose to leave and ostracize them in their lives. This is so much like all cults, but the head of the church is particularly ruthless and quite a mean SOB...sadistic is the word. Church my bum! Power corrupts...absolute power Absolutely Corrupts!

I never knew how malicious this "Church" is!? While growing up, I just ignored those who were critical of scientology because I had no idea that it really was a cult. I thought us Catholics were weird, scientology is nothing but a tax evasion scheme.

Very interesting.

"In other words, a person who is fanatic in matters of religion, and clings to certain ideas about the nature of God and the universe, becomes a person who has no faith at all."
