5.0 out of 5 stars This album is sick
I was never really a huge hip hop fan until recently, but Yak Ballz has easily become my favorite hip hop artist. I don't know why people keep saying he sounds like cage because i personally don't think he sounds anything like him on this album. I agree that this may not be as good as the first Scifentology, but overall it is still an amazing album. All the songs are...

3.0 out of 5 stars Solid Outing From Y@k {3 ½ Stars}
The first thing to jump out at me about Yak Ballz is how much he sounds like Cage. When they rhyme together, I always have trouble figuring out who is who (as you've probably heard on track 12). I don't mean that as a diss in any way, but Yak sounds kind of uninspired on this joint and it sounds more like he's settled for giving us his best Cage impression. Maybe it's...

Maybe it's the production. The production is, in a word, forgettable. There are some strong beats on the album, but they don't exactly grab you. The guest appearances don't really add to the album either. I saw Tame One's name on the track listing, so I skipped straight to it. I was disappointed, to say the very least. Tame seems to have fallen off, and that's coming from a huge Artifacts fan. Joints like "Taking Good Care" probably should've been left off of the album. That track irritated this listener more than anything else.

There are some good songs to be found here when Yak seems to put some effort into his work. "Out Of Range" has some nice production and Yak plays to his strength -- which is, dare I say it, sort of "emo-ish." Apparently, having strong production seems to be when Yak decides to step his game up as evidenced on "Dirt Empire." "War In My Head" also sounds dope over what sounds to me like live instrumentation (don't quote me though).

Scifentology II is a decent release. Things start off kind of slow but pick up toward the middle of the album. It's not going to wow you, but if you're a Yak fan, this should hold you over until his next release. That being said, there's definitely stronger material from Yak Ballz out there to be had. While I find it quite solid, I simply wasn't "wowed" by it. I'd recommend this to Yak fans, but everyone else should probably preview it first. Just my opinion though.

Standout Tracks: A Billion Ways feat. Peter Toh, Out Of Range, Dirt Empire, War In My Head, ChaChing (Clap Your Hands), and Future Deluxe feat. Slow Suicide Stimulus

I don't know why people keep saying he sounds like cage because i personally don't think he sounds anything like him on this album. I agree that this may not be as good as the first Scifentology, but overall it is still an amazing album. All the songs are catchy as hell and have good beats. A billion ways, War in my head, YBTV, Dirt Empire, and Underrated are all amazing songs. If you are not sure whether or not to buy the album give those songs a listen to and I'm sure you will realize how great this cd is.

Im so tired of people say "Yak ballz is trying to be Cage!!!"

Yak Ballz Scifentology II shows how Yak can try out new things and made great music out of them, big change from the 1st scifentology. Great artist change they're style to try out new things and make it BETTER. Scifentology II is awesome! Buy it, blast it in your car! I work in a office enviroment, if it wasnt for Yak Ballz muic, i would of killed myself (not for reals)!

the ONLY negative, Hard as Nails isnt on the CD...but knowing yak he might have something up his sleeve!

BUY IT!! REPRESENT CC, TCK, WM!

3.0 out of 5 stars not what i expected., January 31, 2008
This review is from: Scifentology II (Audio CD)
I was a big Y@k Ballz fan since like 99-2000 when I first heard him on tracks like TCK (True City Killers) Reign and The Plague. I was disappointed by his first solo record he tried to go mainstream but it didnt quite work out.

After listening to the first scifentology I thought "ok the old Y@k is back."
nope, the production is not so good. Dj Mondee didnt come with the heat, some of the tracks were justt boring and yes he does sound like Cage. I actually heard some tracks form his myspace that he didnt have on the album that are far better than the ones that made it on the album.

I went in thinking of hearing some dope hip hop, but got some "Emoish"-rap-Hop. I guess hes been hangin with Cage too much.

Not what i expected.

5.0 out of 5 stars The album is insane., January 31, 2008

I don't agree with the recent review on here. You can hear the snippets yourself. The production overall is incredible. Dirt Empire / YBTV and many more amaze me. The sound quality is great and Yak delivers some of his best lyrics ever.

5 Stars. I haven't enjoyed independent hip hop in a while. This has pulled me back in.
