Caine and Emma,
By
This review is from: Scions: Revelation (Silhouette Nocturne (Numbered)) (Mass Market Paperback)
Emma works at a coffee shop, just your everyday girl, except for the fact that she is completely different from everyone around her. But when she is bombarded with a tantalizing scent she follows her nose to the club next door and encounters Caine, the sexy werewolf mentioned in Landon's story. Caine's has been living among humans since he began having trouble shifting to his human form after transforming to his musk form. He feels he has no purpose until he catches sight of Emma and his wolf recognizes his mate. But there is something off with her scent that he cannot pinpoint, so when she is kidnapped Caine goes on the hunt and becomes engrossed in the prophecy brought about in the first book in this series. As the action and intense lust for each other continues, Emma and Caine realize that the original interpretation of the prophesy was wrong and there is more at stake than they realize.
***I am a huge Patrice Michelle fan and was excited about this book. In Landon's story Caine was introduced so I couldn't wait to see what role he would play in the prophecy. I found this to be a decent story, Caine and Emma were great together, but I felt some of the intensity from the first 2 books were missing...almost as if Patrice rushed thru it. This was not a bad addition to the series, just unremarkable. I would not recommend this book as a standalone and would only recommend this book in the series if there are more coming...otherwise I would gladly have stopped with Landon's tale. Usually if a great series produces a reaction like this with one book in the series then I will read it again later before forming an opinion but I have no desire to read this book again. Despite this fact I believe Patrice to be a great author and look forward to reading more of her work.

DON'T START HERE,

This review is from: Scions: Revelation (Silhouette Nocturne (Numbered)) (Mass Market Paperback)
Lupreda, Velius and Sanquinas oh my. Unless you've read the first two books in this series I wouldn't recommend starting here. This is definetly not a stand-alone and you will only find yourself frustrated and confused. SCIONS REVELATION was well reviewed on Amazon.com. I can only assume by those readers already invested in the series so I'll try not to be too harsh here.
There is lots of drama and action in this tale and I did enjoy the love story between Caine and Emma especially in the final chapter. Yet with no back story or explanations given until near the end of the book I couldn't figure out who or what the different species were and couldn't have cared less about the all important prophecy. In short there are werewolves, sparkling panthers, and some mention of vampires within this story. They have all been given silly clan names and the heroines love interest might go "zerkers" at any time. I recommend reading this series in order and a glossery would have been very helpful.

Scions,
This review is from: Scions: Revelation (Silhouette Nocturne (Numbered)) (Mass Market Paperback)
Although werewolf Caine Grennard is a part of a pack, he walks alone. Caine thinks he is a danger to those around him. Emma Gray has always been a little different than everyone else. Her sense of smell is unusually strong. One scent has enticed her into the club across from the coffee shop she works in. It belongs to Caine. Caine is mysterious and enigmatic and totally out of her league. However, when Emma's elderly aunt is kidnapped, Caine may be the only one who can help her though. Emma is about to enter uncharted territory for her and she's about to learn a few things that will change her life. Caine is drawn to Emma like no other but with no future ahead of him he'll have to leave her once he helps her.
Revelation tells the story of Caine and Emma's seemingly impossible love. They come from different backgrounds, they have different expectations on them, and Emma's got a lot on her plate. When some pretty exceptional things are thrust in her lap, she shines, though. Just when it seems things are hopeless between them, change comes again. Caine is torn between what his heart wants and what he thinks he has to do. Emma is strong. She rises above the challenges before her. They make a powerful couple. Revelation is a great love story with lots of action and drama. Nannette Reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed

a roller coaster ride of intense passion and death defying action,

A CK2S Recommended Read! Caine Grennard is a Lupreda on the brink of losing control of his change and going zerker. After a fateful decision is made, he leaves his pack and his alpha to make a life of his own in the city. Then one night he catches a scent unlike any he has ever known and knows she is his destiny. Emma Gray has never fit in anywhere. She's always felt different from everyone she knows and her only real friend is her beloved Aunt Mary. Yet one night she meets a man who deep down she feels is much like her, virtually alone in the world and fate is sealed. When Aunt Mary is kidnapped, Emma has no one to turn to except her mystery man, Caine. She doesn't know anything about him but in hr heart knows he is the one person she can trust. When her past comes back to haunt her, secrets are revealed that hold the key to the prophecy the Lupreda, and the vampires, are counting on to restore peace. Little did Caine and Emma know that the bond between them could very well be their downfall unless they find the answers fast. Wow! Each book in the Scions trilogy by Patrice Michelle outdoes the ones before. Revelations is aptly named for all the answers we finally get to how to interpret the prophecy. It is a roller coaster ride of intense passion and death defying action that is bound to keep readers glued to their seats until the final page is turned. Enemies are everywhere for the Lupreda as their past comes back to haunt them when the Velius seek revenge for past wrongdoings and hope to destroy the Lupreda. There are still plenty of surprises in store for us in this conclusion to the trilogy sure to leave folks reeling as they are uncovered. Revelations is a very passionate story. Caine is so close to losing control that his emotions are barely leashed. Emma has no idea the real truth about herself or why her senses are out of control. When Caine discovers the truth about Emma's heritage, the love story between them becomes bittersweet. He is drawn to her in an indefinable way all the while he knows he can never have her. His kind couldn't possibly accept her and her kind would kill him before they'd allow Emma her freedom to be with him. Then there is the fear that if he is at risk of going zerker, who's to say he won't pass that predisposition on to his offspring? We also get a chance to visit with some old friends in revelations. Jachin is back to assist Caine's pack in the coming war against the Velius. Mira puts in an appearance as well and I was particularly happy to see her again as she is one I would love to see get her own story and happy ending. Of course Landon, and his mate Kaitlyn are back as well since Caine's alpha isn't about to let him break ties to the pack without a fight. How all of these players interact and come together for the final stunning Revelations about the prophecy makes for some very emotional reading. I am so sorry to see the Scions trilogy come to an end. At least we have one more story set in this world, Perceptions, available. I do hope Patrice Michelle revisits this world in future books as I'm still hoping a few beloved friends will get their own stories. © Kelley A. Hartsell, November 2008. All rights reserved.

Paranormal romance with a riveting plot,
By Jennifer Ray (Nashville, TN United States) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Scions: Revelation (Silhouette Nocturne (Numbered)) (Mass Market Paperback)
Emma Gray has lived a life of seclusion with her beloved aunt. Now that aunt has been kidnapped, and Emma must trust a mysterious stranger to help her rescue her aunt.
Something about Caine Grennard stirs her in ways she has never felt before and compels her to trust him when she knows next to nothing about him. She knows she likes the way he smells, and she certainly likes the way he looks... An outcast from his pack, Caine is a werewolf on the edge of his control. He has become resigned to living a solitary life - then he meets delicious little Emma Gray and it seems he just can't help himself where she is concerned. But there are secrets about Emma that even she isn't aware of - secrets that threaten not only their budding relationship but everyone they care about. I used to be a stickler for reading series books in order. I've relaxed on that point a bit now, and have been happy to find a large number of series books work well as standalone novels, like Patrice Michelle's third book in her SCIONS series, REVELATION. Although I haven't read any of the other SCIONS books - YET - I had no trouble immersing myself into this world and following the story easily. The world building seems effortless, making me feel as if I had stepped into a world I were already mostly familiar with, although Ms. Michelle certain gives the paranormal world her own spin to a degree. I said that REVELATION works well as a standalone, but I will say that having read it, I am itching to read the other stories in this saga: RESURRECTION, INSURRECTION, and PERCEPTION. I'll be scratching that particular itch very soon. I adored Caine Grennard. He is just the perfect tortured hero. He may have his issues, but when it comes to the woman he loves, he is willing to sacrifice anything for her health and happiness. He'd even give up his chance to be with her if it meant she would be better off. Misguided, I know, but an admirable sentiment, nonetheless. Emma is a delight. She starts the story out a bit repressed and shy, but finds her footing as the story progresses and soon evolves into a strong woman with the gumption to do whatever it takes to protect those she loves. Parallel to the romance in REVELATION is the ongoing battle between enemy paranormal groups in this world. As this plot unwinds, we discover that Emma plays a larger part in this plot than she could ever have suspected. REVELATION is big on both romance and suspense. With a host of paranormal creatures that will make any fan of the genre happy, we enjoy an intriguing cast of characters that are bound to keep readers coming back for more stories in this fascinating series. **Courtesy of Wild on Books** Series Order: Scions: Resurrection (Silhouette Nocturne) Scions: Insurrection (Silhouette Nocturne) Scions: Perception Scions: Revelation (Silhouette Nocturne)

Even Better Than The Others,
This review is from: Scions: Revelation (Silhouette Nocturne (Numbered)) (Mass Market Paperback)
They just keep getting better and better, I know that I've said this before but this is definitely my favorite in The Scions series. When it comes to good solid entertainment Patrice Michelle never fails to deliver and Scions Revelation is no exception. The story is filled with action, hot romance, and so many interesting twists and turns that you'll find yourself completely riveted...
If you've not read the first two books in the series I would recommend that you do so. Not because it's necessary to understand this story, but because if you don't you're going to be missing out on a couple of awesome stories... Emma Gray is a nice normal young woman still living at home with her aunt and working at a cafe. True she does have a few unusual talents such as an extremely sharp sense of smell. But overall she's just an ordinary young woman. Until the day that her Aunt is kidnapped and Emma's nice ordinary world is turned upside down in ways that she's never imagined...

fabulous romantic urban fantasy,
This review is from: Scions: Revelation (Silhouette Nocturne (Numbered)) (Mass Market Paperback)
As the werewolf Lupreda protector Caine Grennard knows he must leave since his mentor the Alpha leader Landon gives him no choice. To stay, he must wear a silver collar to keep him from going "zerker", which he knows that means he can not do his job. He leaves his pack to venture out on his own.
The former second in command feels all alone after three months delivering packages until he meets reticent waitress Emma Gray at the Squeeze night club and to his shock is attracted to her as he always assumed his soulmate would be a shapeshifter. Emma reciprocates his feelings even as Landon wants him back with his family and offers a full moon compromise. Soon after their first meeting Emma tells Caine someone kidnapped her Aunt Mary. Caine tells her he will find and try to rescue her. As they investigate together, their attraction turns to love. However, both are in for a shocker when they learn her aunt has been giving Emma vitamins that are actually shapeshifting suppressants; instead of a purebred human she is something else but not werewolf as he would have sniffed that; his fear is that something else is his pack's natural enemy. The latest Scions romantic urban fantasy (see RESURRECTION and INSURRECTION) is a fabulous paranormal that works because the audience obtains a fascinating look at the relationships within the Lupreda pack. The romance is fun to follow as the secret behind what she is will enthrall the audience. The abduction of Aunt Mary takes a back seat to the bite between a unique star-crossed lovers twist. another great read,
By
This review is from: Scions: Revelation (Silhouette Nocturne (Numbered)) (Mass Market Paperback)
What does a werewolf and a werepanther have in common? That's what I thought when I read the back blurb of Scions: Revelations by Patrice Michelle. Turns out the answer is something as simple and as complex as love.
They thought they understood the prophecy. They were wrong. Caine Grennard was a werewolf, living among humans and lacking purpose-until the night he met a woman with an exotic, irresistible scent. A woman who might be his deadliest enemy. When her aunt is kidnapped, Emma Gray swears to do anything to get the older woman back. Even if it means trusting the mysterious-and sexy-stranger named Caine. But more is at stake than one woman's life: Emma's past holds the last key to unlocking a prophecy Caine's clan is depending on. The fate of both their clans rests on them trusting the impossible, electric connection between them, even in the heart of betrayal... The prophecy that began in Scions: Resurrection and continued through Scions: Insurrection finds it's end in Scions: Revelations. In this book, Ms. Michelle has given us an end to the prophecy that gives hope to all, or to those that want peace anyways. She continues to give solid background and characters that are more than one dimensional, there is plenty of action and adventure as well as a very compelling love story. Emma is strong yet vulnerable and an extremely likable character. Caine is strong, protective, and sexy. Their story is full of danger, as people are willing to kill to get their hands on Emma, the only natural born werepanther in existence...or is she? I was so impressed by the story, the characters, and the action that I was totally caught up in Ms. Michelle's world, and I hated to see it end. This is one series that will be going on my "keeper" shelves! |
