3.0 out of 5 stars Great Starter Game
I have an Eight Year Old, Six year old and a Four year old. They are all big Scooby Doo fans and they love this game. They are probably not representative of hard core game players, because they only played PC games before and we are new to PS2.

After reading the review that this game recieved I have to admit I was a bit taken back about purchasing it.I have a 5 year old Son who absolutely loved the first game (Night of 100 Frights So I thought I might take a chance and purchase the follow-up for Him for His birthday.I have to tell you I honestly think I like this one better than the first one!!! The Game is set up to be 5 different episodes that intertwine and eventually come together at the end to reveal the answer to the on-going mystery ( but isn't that what Mystery Inc was all about anyway?). The graphics in my opinion are just as good as the first game and the story lines are much better put together. The fact that you can play as Shaggy or Scooby and switch back and forth at any given time is a great bonus!!!In this game you are more set on looking for clues to solve a on going mystery ( much like the actual cartoon itself) unlike the first game where it had more of a Mario Bros type feeling to it (jumping constantly and bouncing on the bad guys heads!)The five or six bonus mini games are definately challeging and the villians are great!I enjoyed the first game for the simple reason that you got to see alot of Scooby's old Foes, but the game had alot of frustrating points to it.This one is not as hard but has it's moments of challenge.Honestly the only draw-back I can see from completing this game is there is no Don Knotts present, but then again there is also no Don Adams or Jonathan Winters either(Thank Goodness!)For those of you out there who are die-hard Scooby fans or your Kids are, this is in My opinion a great game for you both to enjoy!! Give this one a chance and you decide how YOU feel about it. I personally think you won't be dissapointed!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not Nearly As Fun as Night of 100 Frights, March 13, 2004

This is a rather poor version of Scooby Doo. I bought the GameBoy Advance version and stopped at the fourth level--it was very two-dimensional, and this game is almost the same.

Some of the game is limited to side-scrolling and going to various doors, and it looks like the authors did not put very much time, money, or energy into making this Scooby Doo as fun to play or exciting as Night of 100 Frights.

I was waiting readily for another Scooby Doo but was really disspointed to spend $40 on this version that is almost a port fo the GameBoy Advance version (it has some 3-D levels and the puzzles are harder, but it isn't that good).

If you don't have Night of 100 Frights, then get that one over this title. You will have a better gaming experience. This game requires you to press a certain button countless times to capture ghosts and it's the same throughout the entire game. It gets really boriing and tiring on the fingers to take 30 hits to capture one ghost. How original (sarcasm).

I don't recomment this game--save your money. The authors certainly did and it shows. Trust me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better for Little kids then the first....., January 13, 2005

I bought night of 100 frights for my 5 year old daughter b/c she LOVES Scooby... well to be honest to was to hard for her after awhile to play & so I played & she watched... & Loved it! When this came out I thought it was going to be the same thing so I wasn't going to buy it but when her birthday came up, it's what she asked for.... Well this game looks & feels more like the cartoon, which she prefers & for the most part can play a lot more of this game by herself without mommy's help, which makes her feel good & me feel wonderful b/c I don't have to sit there & play it for her.... I would say this is a much better game for the younger crowd... for older kids, stick with night of 100 frights.....

This game was a gift for my son, who is not allowed games during school nights, but when he's allowed them, he will play his Scooby Doo games for HOURS on end. I am very pleased with this game because it makes my son happy.

I have an Eight Year Old, Six year old and a Four year old. They are all big Scooby Doo fans and they love this game. They are probably not representative of hard core game players, because they only played PC games before and we are new to PS2.

However, the "feel" of this game is that you are in a Scooby Doo episode, complete with jokes and canned laughter. As it is a learning experience for all of us, it is taking time to get through the game, so they are not growing bored with it quickly.

At times the game can seem a little slow, too much dialogue and not enough action, and I can see that becoming a problem in future.

But, for the moment, it is fun. It is very much aimed at young children, with no adult language or themes, no blood, guts or murder. All in all I think it was a good purchase to get the kids into PS2 games.

4.0 out of 5 stars Scooby-Doo Where Are You???, March 23, 2004

If you are older than 6 years of age this game is not for you. After playing Scooby Doo Night of 100 frights I couldn't wait for the next release from THQ. Afer spending my $40 I discovered that I could have waited after all. The game poses very little challenge and becomes boring very quickly.

My 8yo got this as a gift. We wouldn't have bought it, because he doesn't even like Scooby Doo, and he probably didn't play it for more than 5 hours - he got bored halfway through. Although it is a fun, harmless adventure for kids, and it has a wonderful Scooby retro feel to it, it just isn't gripping enough to hold interest.

Night of 100 Frights was really cool -- my 5 year old and I (over 40) had the best time playing over and over and over. Mystery Mayhem, well, it's a mystery ... how/why it ever got made... the graphics are poor, story line/presentation is lame, no excitement, no challenge, even my 5 year old played for about an hour and then looked very sad, dejected, disappointed, and hasn't returned since. (Can I get a refund?) I suggest you go blow spit bubbles before buying this game, it will be more fun. Trust me.
