5.0 out of 5 stars This is a REALLY impressive soundtrack collection!!!
Wow! I picked this up yesterday after drooling all over the back-cover song list and seeing that I was at least somewhat familiar with 13 of the 16 acts that contributed to this CD. Godsmack's "I Stand Alone" by itself makes this worth having, but the excellent songs by Lifer, Flaw, P.O.D., Rob Zombie (with Ozzy!!, Sevendust and Mushroomhead (check out their "XX" CD...

3.0 out of 5 stars Godsmack
The only really good song on this album was Godsmack, the rest of the album was alright but nothing to get all excided about listen to a couple of the samples, that's basically how the whole album sounds like.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have Soundtrack!, April 13, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Scorpion King (Audio CD)
This soundtrack is probally one of the best out there. The mixture of bands is amazing. The only thing that it is really missing is either Korn or Adema to wrap it all up. There really is not a track on here that should not be there. Here's a quick breakdown of the songs.

1. Godsmack - I Stand Alone - Really needs no explanation, huge radio hit and it's Godsmack (Need I say more?) Probally the third best on the CD.5/5

2. P.O.D. - Set It Off (Tweaker Remix) - Not as good as the original song, but still a very good song by itself. 4/5

3. Drowning Pool - Break You - Very well written song, probally better then Drowning Pool's other singles. The second best song on the CD. 5/5

4. System Of A Down - Streamline - I was completly blown away by how well written this song was. Not the typical System Of A Down, but still very good. 5/5

5. Creed - to Whom It May Concern - In my opinion the weakest song on the whole soundtrack. It lacks the intensity of the other songs. Although I'm not a big Creed fan it still was not a bad song. 4/5

6. Nickelback - Yanking Out My Heart - Another great song by Nickelback, it shows the heavier side of the band. Can get a little repetitive though. 4/5

7. Hoobastank - Losing My Grip - A big surprise for me, Hoobstank has written a very good song, excellent lyrics and very good guitar backrounds bring this song together. 5/5

8. Flaw - Only The Strong - A very powerful song the guitar and lyric combination is incredible, mesmerizing and very catchy. Although it isn't as good as "Payback" it is an excellent song by itself. I can't even count the number of times that I've listened to this song. 5/5

9. Rob Zombie feat. Ozzy Osbourne - Ironhead - I was most unsure about this track when I first got the CD. But after listening to it once I fell in love with it. Tied for second best on the album. 5/5

10. 12 Stones - My Life - An extremely talented new band, I can't wait for their first CD to come out. 5/5

11. Mushroomhead - Along The Way - The Cleveland band that made it big this past year. I've followed them for a little while and always loved their music. This song is no different, the lyrics blend with the guitar perfectly. And for those of you who don't like the singing in this song, well, all I can say is, you are not a true Metal fan. 5/5

12. Lifer - Breathless - A band who I had never heard of, but was pretty impressed with. They came out pretty well on this album. 4/5

13. Sevendust - Corrected - Another great Sevendust song. Intense and well written, this is another highlight of the album. In my opinion this is the best song on the CD. 5/5

14. Injected - Burn It Black - A great song by Injected. Intense and catchy at the same time. 4/5

15. Breaking Point - 27 - Kinda out of place with its "punky" guitar, but still a good song. 4/5

16. Coal Chamber - Glow - A haunting song with beautifuly done lyrics and guitars. Another gem of a song on this CD. 5/5

All in all there are no weak points in the CD and I would have to say it is the best soundtrack released this year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really good compilation, March 29, 2002
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Scorpion King (Audio CD)
...The soundtrack is really good. There is not a bad song on there. Here is my opinion of each song:
1. Godsmack - Already a big radio hit. It is one of the best on the disc (5/5).
2. P.O.D. - I hate this band, but this is a decent song. I can actually tolerate it. INFINITE PRAISES TO TWEAKER on the mix. (4/5)
3. Drowning Pool - This song could be a big radio hit if released. I think it is better than any of their three singles. (5/5)
4. System Of A Down - A new song that I think should have made their "Toxicity" album. I really love the transitions from fast to slow in the song. Again, it could be a big hit. (5/5)
5. Creed - A previously import only song. This makes for the worst song on the disc. I would have kept it off...(3/5)
6. Nickelback - Too classic southern rock for me. Canadian hicks still make a decent song here. (3/5)
7. Hoobastank - Should have made the album. This is a really good song. (5/5)
8. Flaw - A non-original song. There are better on Flaw's album, but this is still a good song. I recommend "Through The Eyes" by Flaw if you like this song. (4/5)
9. Rob Zombie / Ozzy - Look at the artists: need I say more? The song kicks a$$. (5/5)
10. 12 Stones - New band. This band really impressed me with their sheer talent. They sound vaguely like Creed, but much better. A very good guitar solo to boot. 2nd best song on the disc. (5/5)
11. Mushroomhead - Written specifically for the movie, my guess is that it will be the third single from the disc (Lifer is going to hit the radio soon). I really love this song. I recommend the Mushroomhead disc "XX". (5/5)
12. Lifer - They sound good, but I don't like the singer. (4/5)
13. Sevendust - Another very good song. A cool intro. Hard and melodic at the same time. The strings in the chorus add a whold new dimension to the song. (5/5)
14. Injected - Decent song, but their single "Faithless" is better (not by much, though). There is a good solo in there, though. (4/5)
15. Breaking Point - This is a very good song as well. The singer sounds weird, like George Michael. The song sounds pretty good, though. (4/5)
16. Coal Chamber - What a way to end this! The singer sounds cool. The song reminds me of Fear Factory. (5/5)
All in all, BUY THIS DISC. IT IS WORTH THE MONEY.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Soundtrack, June 7, 2002
This review is from: Scorpion King (Audio CD)
This is a really great soundtrack [despite the weak movie], and the best i've heard so far this year. Unlike many other soundtracks, this cd is solid throughout itself. It's not something where you hear Metallica and then you hear Britney Spears, and then Phil Collins. The whole album is hard, heavy, quality, and catchy rock music by some of the biggest names.

1. Godsmack - I stand Alone
Great song, catchy, best Godsmack song, gets old after a while.
2. P.O.D. - Set it off (Remix)
An awesome remix of an awesome song by my favorite band.
3. Drowning Pool - Break You
Same boring garbage from that one hit wonder Drowning Pool. The lead singer just keeps repeating I WILL BREAK YOU and whining about his pain inside. WORST.
4. SOAD - Streamline
Best song on the album. Beautifully done with an awesome climax, shoulda been on Toxicity.
5. Creed - To Whom it May Concern
Same Creed stuff, not that bad though.
6. Nickelback - Yanking Out My Heart
Heavy Nickelback song with great lyrics. 2nd best on the album.
7. Hoobastank - Losing My Grip
Great riffs.
8. Flaw - Only The Strong
This is an awesome song, its really heavy, heartfelt, and catchy. 3rd Best on the album.
9. Rob Zombie - Iron Head
Great song by Rob, much better than his new singles.
10. 12 Stones - My Life
Not a bad song, kinda whiny.
11. Mushroomhead - Along the Way
Although the drumming is cool, the lead singer sounds like hes dying.
12. Lifer - Breathless
Good song by Lifer, the refrain is great, especially the acoustic guitar.
13. Sevendust - Corrected
I bought the album for this song because 7dust is one of my favorite bands. This song is great, alot like Animosity.
14. Injected - Burn It Black
Great song.
15. Breaking Point - 27
I really like this song because its more upbeat than the rest of the CD.
16. Coal Chamber - Glow
Great new Coal Chamber song.

All in all, this CD is really worth buying.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best... Soundtrack... EVAR!!!, May 9, 2003
By
SlipknotFan (Pueblo, CO USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Scorpion King (Audio CD)
I bought this CD abput a year ago, and I loved it. It has a bunch of bands that I cannot get enough of like Godsmack, POD, Sevendust, Rob Zombie/Ozzy Osbourne, and System of a down.
This CD also has a bunch of bands i have never heard of, and now I go to there concerts in Colorado. Like Lifer, Coal CHamber, and Mushroomhead.

I really love this CD. It manages to stay very hard, and has a very melodic sound to it. It has made me love many bands like Godsmack. I didn't like them until I heard "I Stand Alone." Now onto my track review.

"I Stand Alone"-Godsmack 10/10- Awesome song. This song is the whole reason I bought this CD. I saw the music video oon MTV (magnificent video BTW) and i fell in love. Truly wonderful.

"Set it Off (tweaker Remix)"-POD 8/10- Not the best song. Don't get me wrong, i love it. But i love it better on Satilite.

"Break You"-Drowning Pool 2/10- No. Drowning Pool at their worst.

"Streamline"-System of a Down 9/10- I truly do ove this song. It manages to be really fast and mellow at the same time. Beautiful.

"To Whoom it May Concern"-Creed 3/10- I can't stand this song.

"Yanking Out my Heart"-Nickleback 7/10- Not a bad song. Nice and hard.

"Losing my Grip"-Hoobastank 9/10- I loathed this song in the beginning, but when I got past the 'NSYNC part i truly loved it.

"Only the Strong"-Flaw 7/10- I tend not to like the slower songs, but this one manages a 7. Gets a little repitive, though...

"Iron Head"-Rob Zombie feat, Ozzy Osbourne 10/10- I love this song. It made me come to like Zombie. Hard, hard to understand. Perfect combo.

"My life"-12 Stones 8/10- slow, but in the end nice.

"Along the Way"-Mushroomhead 8/10- I like the drums in the beginning. It's nice anmd fast (the song).

"Breathless"-Lifer 10/10- I've naver heard of Lifer, but i do like the guitars in this song. People may not like like them in the end, but live they are great in the moshpit.

"Corrected"-Sevendust 10/10- I really love the bass in this song. Reminds me of Animosity.

"Burn it Black"-Injected 1/10- OH MY GOD!!! TURN IT OFF!!!

"27"-Breaking Point 9/10- Another band I haven't heard of. I like this song, though.

"Glow"-Coal Chamber 9/10- Not bad. Aewsome live.

In Conclusion, this CD earns 5 stars. It more than deserves it. One of the best CDs you can buy. If you haven't already bought it after reading this, then I will pray for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars A hard-rocker's paradise, March 31, 2002
By
This review is from: Scorpion King (Audio CD)
This an EXCELLENT compilation of today's top rock artists including a gold-mine of previously unreleased songs by System of a Down, Hoobastank, Godsmack, Sevendust, Nickelback and Coal Chamber. Personally, the whole album was worth the buy just for the new releases but when you add the kicking P.O.D. remix, the new Injected hit, "Burn it Black" and the Ozzy/Rob Zombie como for Iron Head, it's amazing this album is going for so little.

When you get done with the distortion heavy rock-fest of Godsmack's new hit, you go on to one of P.O.D.'s newest releases off their Satellite album. For those of you who already enjoyed the original version, the remix is very light. Then comes a new one by Drowning pool and the newest one by System. It's not as diverse necessarily as Chop Suey but still way worth your time. It goes a bit further back in their history to the days of songs like Snowblind and War. Signature vocals in between heavy guitar riffs. Ok, now I know you're thinking Creed? What the? Well, although I'm a fan of Creed, I know they seem the odd one out in this mix, especially after a SOAD song, but this was well picked and is no less soft than the Hoobastank release I'll rave about later. Yanking Out My Heart by Nickleback is another great addition to this album. Although some of their earlier stuff, while awesome was a bit soft and some of the better tracks off of Silver Side Up like Too Bad are a little less harsh than what should be expected here, this new release is all metal and a great driving-angry song. And then we come to Hoobastank. I'm a super Hoobastank fan and have been for years. I would have bought the album just for this one song but I think I could have waited for the mp3 to show up online. The beginning kicks [behind] with an excellent guitar intro but then you're kind of let down when the chorus comes. It's still a completely excellent song with signature Hoobastank vocal harmonics and background accented grunge riffs, but it wasn't amazing like when I first heard Crawling in the Dark (before it was overplayed). The Flaw song is off their latest release, which was pretty good if you enjoy Flaw. The Ozzy and Rob Zombie duo would have been better if there were more Ozzy but it was a Zombie song right off the bat with the signature deaf-drummer beats and huge crashing distortion. So if youre a Zombie fan, you'll like this one. I'd never heard of Twelve Stones before (their first album comes out April 23) but they're totally worth watching. To be honest, they sound like this band called Spiritfall (check out the song My Reason which rules) which is sort of a mix between Hoobastank, Nickelback and Fuel. It's a great song no matter what combo you put together to describe it. Now, if you're familiar with Mushroomhead, they're the kind of deep-throated growl band that you might find on a Deftones tour. The next track by Lifer is similar in that it incorporates deep thumping power chords and someone screaming something upsetting. Now, the Sevendust song is something to talk about. Although it's not as great as some of the completely awesome tracks on Animosity, it's still amazing in itself. It most closely resembles the first track on Animosity with the intensity of their record-breaking mosh song Black from their previous album. A must-hear for any Sevendust fan. Next is Injected's excellent release, Burn it Black. If you're into songs that use vocal harmony to offset deep rock overtones like I am, you'll love this song. There's an improv guitar solo in the middle, which you might enjoy and some good deep rock beats. Track 15 seems a bit out of place as it seems a bit more upbeat than the rest but still a great song. It starts out with a fast chord progression that you might find in a punk song and a completely harmonized chorus. Then it kind of evens off into some very ear-pleasing vocal/easy rock partnership. A good song in all. The last track is another growling song with a bunch of deep bass and Rob Zombie kind of depressing effects.

All in all, a superior rock compilation.

I like the begining of the song but it slowly gets more annyoing and annoying but overall is allright

4. Streamline- System of a Down

5.0 out of 5 stars My all time favorite Soundtrack CD, April 10, 2003
By
Sion (Cincinnati, OH) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Scorpion King (Audio CD)
This CD is probably one of my Favorite CDs of all time.

Godsmack - "I stand alone" - I'm learning the guitar part for this song. Definitley one of my favorite songs on the CD. I'm a new fan of Godsmack's work because of this song. 10/10

P.O.D. - "Set It Off [Tweaker Remix]" An OK song. Don't ge me wrong, I'm a big P.O.D. fan, but this version of SIO is not as good as the album version. 6/10

Drowning Pool - "break you" Pretty cool. I'm not a drowning pool fan. This isn't great, but is listenable. 5.5/10

System of a Down - "Streamline" - Its System of a Down, need I say more? This version is better than the one on Steal This Album, heavier and awesome! 10/10

Creed - "To Whom It May Concern" - Many people hate Creed. Many people love Creed. I love them, personally. This song is really quiet and kicks up at the end. 9/10

Nickelback - "Yanking Out My Heart" - I'm not a Nickelback fan. but this song is really catchy. The guitar part is pretty cool. 8/10

Hoobastank - "Losing my Grip" - Hoobastank is one of the best bands today. This song is one of their more mellow songs. Its awesome. 9/10

Flaw - "Only the Strong" - Flaw deserves MUCH more recongition than they get. This is the 1st song of their I heard. I love the guitar part, its VERY catchy. I've bought their CD, Through The Eyes, because of this ong, and I wasn't dissapointed! One of my favorites! 10/10

Rob Zombie & Ozzy Osbourne - "Ironhead" - I'm a big fan of both artists, so why wouldn't I love it? Its a really heavy song with some cool demonic noises, a signature move by the Zombie. The only downfall is that it CAN get annyoing if you overlisten it. 9/10

12 Stones - "My Life" - Never heard of 12 stones, but maybe I'll check out their stuff. This song is awesome, again with awesome guitar riffs! 9/10

Mushroomhead - "Along the Way" - This song got me hooked on Mushroomhead. Another band that deserves more credit than they have. I love these guys. They do everything from metal to rap to electronica and more. This song is really dark and heavy. 10/10

Lifer - "Breathless" - I've never heard of Lifer before. But this song has some really heavy guitar. The only problem is, when the outra riff starts, skip the song. The outro goes on for about another minute and its the same thing over and over again. 8/10

Sevendust - "Corrected" - John Connolly and his signature Epiphone Les Paul are sn awesome combination! I am still confused as to how he comes up with these insane riffs that sound awesome! The singer has some major talent to! One of my favorites! 10/10

Injected - "Burn It Black" - Most worthless song on the CD. 2/10

Breaking point - "27" - Another band I haven't heard of. But they rock! I may pick up their CD. 8.9/10 Aww screw it. 9/10

Coal Chamber - "Glow" - Goth Metal at its best. This song has some awesome metallic sounds at the beginning of the track, viz Meegs' guitar. Dez' voice really growls with anger, and overall the heaviest song on the album! 10/10

In conclusion, if you like rock, metal, or music in general, buy this CD!

5.0 out of 5 stars my personal perfect compilation, July 27, 2006
This review is from: Scorpion King (Audio CD)
For every great movie, there has to be a great soundtrack, right? Well, this is one movie that proves to not be the exception to the rule, to the delight of musiclovers everywhere. Here are my opinions on the individual tracks:

1. I Stand Alone - Godsmack- My favorite song off the soundtrack and my favorite from Godsmack- hell, one of my favorite songs of alltime. There are some songs on this particular soundtrack that were just perfect for the soundtrack, and this is one of them. Godsmack recorded this song exclusively for this compilation, but the response to the track was so strong, they recorded it and put it as their first single from their 2003 album Faceless. Perfect song in every way.
2. Set It Off (Tweaker Remix) - P.O.D.: Another awesome song, this one remixed from Set It Off, from their Satellite CD. Cool beats and it's got Sonny Sandoval, so you can't really go wrong with it.
3. Streamline - System Of A Down: Loved System of a Down on here. Another good song for the ST.
4. To Whom It May Concern - Creed: I love Creed! And this song, from their Human Clay CD. Sweet song.
5. Yanking Out My Heart - Nickelback: Another song recorded specifically for this soundtrack, Nickelback really puts out a good time on this song and it really shows in one of the best songs on the CD.
6. Losing My Grip - Hoobastank: Not one of the best songs, but still pretty good.
7. Only The Strong - Flaw: don't know why, but I really didn't like this song that much. Never heard of Flaw before this CD and it really didn't give me that much reason to check them out more...
8. Iron Head - Rob Zombie feat. Ozzy Osbourne: A perfect combination (although not as good as Rob Zombie and Drowning Pool from the Daredevil soundtrack) and one of my favorites.
9. My Life - 12 Stones: I LOVE 12 STONES!! I am a huge fan of all their music, esp. this one, from their 2001 debut CD. This is my second favorite on here.
10. Along The Way - Mushroomhead: Not bad, but not the best.
11. Breathless - Lifer: Meh. Not bad,
12. Corrected - Sevendust: Sweet song.
13. Burn It Black - Injected: Pretty good for a band I've never heard of before this.
14. 27 - Breaking Point: Another decent compilation for this CD.
15. Glow - Coal Chamber: Here is a really good track. My third favorite.

If only I could get you to see the awesomeness of I Stand Alone... oh well. Happy rocking, everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Burn it Black...more like Gold, February 17, 2006
This review is from: Scorpion King (Audio CD)
This soundtrack hits all the right notes and smashing through all the right walls if you get my drift. From open to close it's brilliant. With new tracks penned for the film by Godsmack, Mushroomhead and System of a Down this is one album that is sure to please. "I STAND ALONE" is a great way to open, and the video is a great one at that. POD is always lacking in my book but the introduction of the newly reformed Drowning Pool elicits appreciation as does Systems melodicly challenged masterpiece "STEAMLINE"...and by melodically challenged I mean that it doesnt know what it wants to be (but thats how it is with Systems stuff and it works) Creed slow things down and then hand things off the Nickelback who run with it turning out great rock with a southern feel. They truly are Country's answer to rock and roll. Hoobastank do alright, not my favorite band but not a bad selection, while Flaw rip things apart with "ONLY THE STRONG". It's such a shame this band fell apart because they were one heck of a kick @$$ band. "IRON HEAD" is a great heavy track from none other than Satan himself (oh wait, which one is Satan again?) Rob Zombie and Ozzy. 12 Stones were welcomed to the stage with "MY LIFE" which has promise...to bad they never lived up to the promise...Mushroomhead is always good for something and Lifer, winners of MTV's Battle of the Band turn out a really awsome track "BREATHLESS"...it's just too bad their debut CD bombed bad...Sevendust turn out a unique rocker in "CORRECTED" and prove they are still in the game. Injected, a band I've never heard before, give one awsome standout track in "BURN IT BLACK" while Breaking Points "27" fails to dissapoint (thats a good thing)...The closer "GLOW" by Coal Chamber, while not terrible, failed to excite me about the release of Coal Chambers upcoming CD "Dark Days" and while I purchased the CD anyway, this song is still not one of my favorites...but it does have that middle-eastern vibe to the riff and so it fits well to the feel of the movie I guess. All in all this is one Soundtrack that needs to me in your collection!
