I haven't tested it in heavy rain, but it will DEFINITELY keep you warm!!, March 7, 2010
I got this jacket because I was looking for a single purchase that would take care of the majority of my bike riding needs: warmth, adjustability, breathable, water/weatherproof, protection. I must say this jacket, thus far, has more than met these challenges.
I ride a 06 Kawasaki Ninja 636, got it the first weekend of 2010. And wouldn't you know, that was the end of a somewhat mild winter and began the garbage we've been dealing with the past few months. Knowing I needed a jacket and wanting something that I would be able to use for a while, well into the summer, was key. I'm cold natured, so being too warm is not a problem for me as in most conditions I am too cold. Saw this jacket and realizing spring was around the corner and cold weather would break and wet weather would appear this seemed like a winner. And it was.
1) Jacket is well built, very adjustable, has plenty of protection in the elbows, shoulders, and even a space for a back protector... protector is not included. I feel like John Conner and the leader of the resistance when I have on this jacket, lol.
2) Extremely warm. I've worn this jacket in 29 degree weather with normally just 2 shirts, sometimes 3, underneath and my core was just as warm after 15 min of riding as it was before I walked out of the house. Being that I just got my bike I try to ride every chance I get... even in unfavorable conditions. This jacket is snug, warm, and comfortable from 30 degrees right up to 60 (60 is the warmest it's been around here so far this year).
3) Adjustable. This jacket has more than enough straps, zippers, and liners to taylor itself to most anyone's needs. There are 2 removable liners that provide warmth and moisture release. There are zippers all over for extra ventilation and straps that allow increased or decreased tension for torso, neck, wrists, shoulders, everything. When you first put it on, you might feel a little restrained, but during actual riding you will find this jacket more than gives enough flexibility and movement to allow for any motorcyle maneuver.
I don't know what else to say. Is this a year round jacket? That has yet to be determined. When the temp gets to 90 or so and I have both liners out and all the vents unzipped I will let you know. I do have my eye on a couple of options for summer wear in case this is just too much, but as of right now my plan is to wear as long as possible. But aside from my helmet, this is probably the best investment I've made in regards to my motorcycle riding experience thus far.
