5.0 out of 5 stars Great Sound, No Static!
I purchased this item because I bought a used car that didn't have a CD player in it. I tried the VR3 FM modulator that transmitts to you FM stereo but the sound quality was extremely poor, no matter what I did to attempt to make it work. This product however, worked excellent upon installation. Great sound, no static!

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent product
I bought this product for my 2006 Chevy Cobalt that has no AUX port, so I can listen to the internet radio from my phone. Antena port was not compatible with my car's antenna, so I had to spend another $20 for 2 antena adaptors (one imput, one output). It looks like the most of GM vehicles use smaller diameter antena jacks and ports and not the standard (wider) one that...

Installation is a pain since you have to pretty much remove your existing stereo and access your vehicles wiring, but in the end is worth it. All the wiring can be easily hidden, the box can be hidden somewhere where you can access should you ever need to (It's pretty much a "set it and forget it" type of device. The headphone jack that goes to your CD player can be routed to your glove box, or, in my case, in the armrest storage compartment. That way you can hide your player and not have a something obvious to attract unwelcome guests to your car.

No frills. You get what you pay for. But it worked out of the box just fine. Sound quality is definitely acceptable. No noticeable defects. Used it to complete a Sirius install in a Ford Explorer, worked fine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed, January 3, 2008

Exactly what I needed, and it works perfectly. Sound quality is great with no interference. Simple to hook up (antenna in, antenna out, red (fused) power lead, black ground, and RCAs). If you have a factory radio without a CD changer input or an aftermarket radio with no auxiliary input, this is the solution. My only complaint is the power switch, but it's necessary because although this has a bandpass filter, some stations are slightly degraded outside of the band when the device is powered on. I'm not sure how this item has any reviews other than 4 or 5 stars, but those reviewers obviously didn't know what they were purchasing or how to use it and should not have left reviews on the product page.

The ONLY downside I've had so far is the guage wire used. It's too small to easily use a tap to pull from the radio's hot wire. The sound is great, just remember to turn up your ipod.

After having used both a an FM Transmitter (bad) and a cassette adapter (tolerable), the Scosche FM-MOD01 was everything I had hoped for! It takes a little effort and know-how to install but the result is WELL worth it! And the fact that it's under $20.00 was just icing on the cake!

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great!, February 2, 2008

Works like a champ. Antenna and power/ground leads are plenty long enough to make for an easy installation. I purchased the GM antenna adapter kit to go with it, turns out it wasn't needed. When I finally got into the dash of my 2005 Malibu, found a standard size plug connection up at the left side of the dash, probably for optional On-Star, that the modulator plugged right into both for input and output. Would have appreciated a longer RCA to 1/8" adapter cable to go to the MP-3 player, and would have appreciated a couple of chunks of double sided foam tape for securing. Minor issues though compared to the sound quality for the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for those of us stuck with no auxilary inputs, February 19, 2009
This review is from: Scosche Audio FM Modulator - Universal (Electronics)
I bought this so that I could use my new iPod nano with my stock '02 Ford Focus radio. I didn't want one of those silly looking aftermarket radios in my dashboard, so this was the only decent option for me.

The sound quality is surprisingly good. Installation was quick and easy.

I've found that it's best to turn down the volume on your device and turn it up on your radio or else it will sound a bit distorted.

5.0 out of 5 stars Low cost MP3 input works well, January 12, 2008

This review is from: Scosche Audio FM Modulator - Universal (Electronics)
I bought this item for about $25 and went to a local auto stereo installation place. The installed it for me for $45. So for $70 overall, I got the mp3 input that I wanted, while keeping my factory stereo in my car.
There is a black wire coming out of my dash near the electrical outlet, so it's not as inviting to a car thief to come and smash my window. Recently, my window was broken in a "smash and grab" and the FM transmitteriRiver AFT 100 Mobile FM Transmitter stolen. The FM transmitter was about $50, but the window cost $250 to replace. So having the factory stereo was very important, to deter car thieves.
I don't have any static like I did with the FM transmitter.
My car is a 2006 Hyundai Accent 4-door (Canadian made). My MP3 player is an iRiver ClixIRiver clix - Digital player / radio - flash 2 GB - WMA, Ogg, MP3 - video playback - display: 2.2" I put the volume around 20 on the Clix and about 25 on the car stereo, tuned to 88.3.
The other stations still play clearly, whether I turn the FM Modulator off or not.
If you want an inexpensive MP3 input, while keeping your factory stereo and a low profile for car theives, this is a good unit and I recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars As advertised A++, May 25, 2007

I have tried to connect to my car stereo via the power adapter FM transmitter and the Cassette adapter. This is ten times better. Yes you must rip out you dash. On my caravan that took 5 minutes. On my Buick Regal that took 90 minutes plus $5 buck to a how2 site; $5 well spent I might add. Oh, in all likelihood you will need antenna adapters - I got mine on ebay $15 bucks for caravan only $8 for the buick. I have never connected 12V power in my life. I used a Quick Splice also called Scotch Lock. Black is usually ground and thinner gauge. Get them at auto supply store. Power is colored and thicker gauge. This is going to the power adapter or cig lighter. I have been playing the laptop and the Ipod through the system. Volume and quality not quite CD - better than anything else. Better than cassette tapes!

for the price this product is exactly what I expected sound quality is good not great. I would buy this product again if I was putting it in a factory stereo system but if I was installing it in a upgraded system I would go with something else over all good product.
