I love everything about these headphones. In ear, 6 different caps for proper fitting. The sound is perfect and the caps have excellent isolation. The controls work perfect with the iPhone 3GS, exactly like the Apple headset but the mechanism is smoother. The microphone is excellent. Also the mechanism / microphone is higher than the Apple headset which I prefer, it does not get caught up in jacket collars. Finally, the price for the quality... wow!

I've had two pairs of these headphones (I got the first pair replaced after they broke). I haven't been particularly thrilled with them as they seem to go bad pretty quickly. I've tried to fix them up and can sometimes manage to solder them back together, but it only bought another week or two of life. They earbuds look very cool, but their construction quality is definitely sub-par. If you are not looking to spend too much money on headphones, these may be for you though...

. . . something went seriously wrong 6 months after I purchased them. All of a sudden the remote completely stopped working -- I can't adjust volume, pause, rewind or fast forward. I bought them in April (it's now October) and used them for about an hour a day when I walk and they weren't subjected to anything that might have caused the problem like moisture or dropping or smashing or anything. I emailed Scosche and they advised me to reboot my iPod and that would then reset the remote to start working again, but I tried that to no avail. I emailed Scosche again and they told me to send them back with my receipt as they are still under warranty. So at least there is that warranty. We'll see what happens and report back. Other than this snafu, I love everything about these headphones - great sound, extremely comfortable. I hope Scosche honors the warranty and sends me a new set quickly.

UPDATE: STEER AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT - just had to throw them in the trash. Volume just kept fading by itselfDowns Volume goes up and down for no apparent reason. Sound quality is not that great. Cable has a stubborn form memory and it took weeks for the coils from packaging to disappear, just like one of those old ear buds from 1970's compact radios. Ups I gave it 2 stars because the buds are comfortable and for that price, I plan to use them as the commuting earphones - they get abused a lot.

Sound quality is acceptable, but the bass is quite boomy. This could be a good thing if you like exaggerated bass. iPhone controls do everything that the stock iPhone headset does. Sadly, after only a couple of months, the wire has gone bad near the jack, resulting in lack of signal to one ear.

Sound is just okay. Bass is a little thumpy and muddy. When I workout, sweat seems to run down the cord and into the tap buttons causing it to send signals to the iPhone which in turn causes funky actions like volume adjust, pause and track skip. Cord is stiff and tangles very easily. Is actually quite useless for phone conversations because of the echo and reverberation when I speak. I don't know if this is a phenomenon of the in-ear type of headphones but I can't imagine if spent over 100 bucks on pair that I wouldn't be able to talk on the phone with them

Frankly, I am kind of disappointed. The earphones are low on bass on high on treble. I dont think they are any better than the basic IPOD earphones.

Everything is good but the remote button is hard to control. For example, while listening music, I want to adjust the volume it turns off the song.

Not sure if I received a defective earphone but while the sound is good on the earphone and the mic works well, the sound on my right earphone is already going in and out. There seems to be a connection problem and its as if the earphones are already about to go dead a week after purchase.

These were not purchased to be my primary Gen 3s Iphone headphone. I purchased them as a replacement for my Ultimate Buds, which I needed to send in for repair. Long an Eytomic lover, I liked the Ultimate Buds for using the Eytomic ER6i drivers, which I've used for a number of years which they meld with the original Apple Iphone remote headphones. So I get the best of both worlds. As a back up for the Iphone's headphones, I'd purchased some Ultimate Ears (for a really low special one day price) for the microphone, but after using the remote control on the inline wires of the Ipod original Iphone headphones (melded into the ER6i drives) I found myself spoiled. Not wanting to do without while my Ultimate Buds were sent in for warranty work, I looked for a reasonably priced replacement. The Scosche IDR350m were on sale for $32 & with my prime shipping, I'd have them in one day for a $4.00 shipping fee. Seemed reasonable enough. Now I wasn't expecting great sound, good sound was acceptable. When I received them the next day, (thanks Amazon Prime) I set about opening them up. Here is where these value headphones lost a five star rating. Included in the blisterwrap are Interchangeable color caps, something I probably wouldn't use, but, they're there. The blisterwrap, even though it's in-cased in a sealed box, is molded together, requiring a sharp object, like a razor blade to open them. A pain, but all to normal. When you get through the environmentally wasteful blisterwrap, you think you can just remove the headphones from the winding layout in the preformed plastic. Wrong. In trying to do so, your little interchangeable color caps go flying all over the place. If you're in a room with furniture, you'll most likely have them end up under a chair, couch, table, or tv stand, which is what happened to me. It's not that I intended to use them, but I have dogs who I can envision swallowing them. So out comes the vacuum cleaner, and bye bye caps (at least I hoped they got sucked up). So the caps are an irritant, but not the main problem. The thin delicate headphone wires are attached to the blisterwarp, with no apparent (at least to old eyes like mine) means such as tape to give you a warning you can't just pull them out. So in pulling them out, you run the risk of damaging the wires. I was finally able to get them out however, though I wish they had disclosed this packing feature. When I hooked them up, I was surprised the inline remote was actually better than the one Apple sells and Ultimate Buds uses, so I was very please with that aspect of the headphones. However, most people will be purchasing them for the sound. So, taking into account that everyone's ears are different, I can only speak to how I found them, in comparison to my Eytomic (and Ultimate buds since they use the same drivers), my Ultimate ears, and my Shure E3. A lot more comfortable than my Eytomic & Ultimate Buds but not as good at keeping out surrounding noise. I'm not too certain how well they'd perform on say, an airplane but good enough for daily back ground noise. Nor can I see them staying in ear with the same degree of certainty I get with the ER6i. Surprisingly superior/fuller bass, not as clear highs. Ultimate Ears: Scosche & Ultimate Ears have an equal fit, at least with the flanges that came on them out of the box. The Scosche does have different sizes in a pouch. Sound, pretty similar. I have to give the advantage to Scosche because even though both have microphones, the Scosche has the inline remote and retail without a special, for less. Shure E3: I've been back and forth on the E3 versus the Eytomic ER6. Both have strengths and weakness which I won't go into here, you can read my reviews on either if you're interested. As for comparing to the Scosche, for the price, not the sound or quality of the make, Scosche inches out the E3 at least for the Iphone. If I was going for an Ipod classic, E3 no doubt. For a Nano, because of the thickness of the E3 cord, which is part of why I've gone back & forth on the E3 v the ER6, I'd probably stay with an ER6, and pass on the Scosche. Overall, for an inexpensive set of Iphone in ear headphones, I can, at this time, recommend the Scosche, we'll see how well they stand up and I'll revisit this review at that time. |
