Deceptive advertising, terrible service from GizmosforLife,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Don't waste your time on this product or seller. The product sound range is advertised as 35-130 dB while in reality the box says the range 60-130 dB and it doesn't pick up anything less than 60 db at all. The difference is substantial. This product won't pick up any noise that's below loud-talking/moderate yelling-level. It's meant for bands and very loud noises, not loud-but-below-yelling-level noise problems.GizmosforLife is the worst seller that I have encountered on Amazon. I notifyed them of the deceptive advertising and many days later I got a form response to call tech support as if they would magically transform the product into what the deceptive advertising claims it to be. Today, the ad is still wrong. I have to waste my time returning and reorder another one. Save yourself the time and headache and buy a better decibel reader from a better seller.

Great so far!,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I'm not sure what product some of the other reviewers ended up with, but the SPL1000 I just got says on the front of the package "30 to 130 dB"... I just measured my bedroom and got a reading of about 32 dB, so this product does in fact read well below 60 dB.I primarily purchased this as a toy, and to see what I was pumping out of my stereos and the loudness of my motorcycle exhaust, and it does the job 100%. I love this little thing

Not for use on non-loud noises.,
I had hoped to be able to gauge the decibel level in less than raucous situations. But, as Elizabeth points out, this device is useless below 60 decibels: shouting level. It has never given me a reading below 60 in any situation, including a quiet bedroom. If you want to see how quickly your car speakers will deafen you, this device may be useful. For non-loud situations, look for something else.
