5.0 out of 5 stars Works Great
Works very well with my iPhone. Does exactly what it says. There was not a lot of info out there about this unit, but I got a very good deal on a closeout unit here on Amazon so it was worth the gamble. In the end, I won. This is a potentially much cheaper and more built-in solution than the speakerphone units that clip to your visor, though of course not as portable...

1.0 out of 5 stars HORRIBLE
I purchased this item two years ago. Save your money and skip it. It is garbage. It kept disconnecting every two minutes, and I had to reset everything to reconnect. I thought I had a faulty unit and got it replaced, same result. STAY AWAY.

Works very well with my iPhone. Does exactly what it says. There was not a lot of info out there about this unit, but I got a very good deal on a closeout unit here on Amazon so it was worth the gamble. In the end, I won. This is a potentially much cheaper and more built-in solution than the speakerphone units that clip to your visor, though of course not as portable.

It comes with both car and home power adapters. It can be hardwired into your car, as I did, or you can attach it to your home stereo if you have an extra input. The microphone is on a long cord that can be clipped to a car visor, etc. It also has an answer/hangup button on it. The mic cord plugs into the main unit.

The main unit has two RCA jacks on it, as you can see. These plug into your car or home stereo. Then, you pair your phone with the unit and you're done. When you receive a call, audio comes through whatever device you've attached to the RCA jacks and you talk into the microphone on the long cord; couldn't be simpler. Like a bulky Bluetooth headset.

This is apparently part of a system of Bluetooth components Scoche released. You do not need any of the other components to use this unit. Likewise, the Engrish instructions that come with the unit are confusing. I found it easiest just to ignore them and let my intuition guide me. If you've worked with other Bluetooth technology before, you'll have no problem figuring this out.

5.0 out of 5 stars VERY uniquely worth buying., January 20, 2009

This review is from: Scosche UBRH Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I already owned a Sony bluetooth bidirectional receiver/transmitter for my home theater, and I made the mistake of thinking I could transport it to my car with the same end results. Not so.

Because the Sony requires that it be turned on via tactile power button each time, I had to open my center console every time I started my car just to turn the thing on. With this Scosche it is no longer an issue.

Furthermore, I was able to adjust the gain on this receiver the first time I used it, so that the volume level would be roughly equal to that of my FM radio.

This unit has only 5% of the low-level background noise as the Sony, meaning I no longer hear my alternator whine into the speakers between tracks.

Ironically, at home, the Sony picks up slightly less noise than the Scosche, although they are very similar.

Definitely true AD2P high quality audio, and no problems maintaining multiple pairings with 3 different Nokia phones.

I plan to buy one for each successive vehicle I buy.

2.0 out of 5 stars great concept, poor reception., June 25, 2008
This review is from: Scosche UBRH Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit (Wireless Phone Accessory)
PRO: Easy to connect. Small.
CON: Poor reception. Average audio quality.
VERDICT: works good if the transmitter within couple of ft. Otherwise is useless.

NOTES: Used as connection to home stereo.
Works good within 4ft radius. If you go further than that - expect interference. Strange thing is, that when you stand or move between your transmitter and this receiver - you get interference.

even though I got it for $20 from Ebay, it's barely worth it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't play nice with wifi, January 14, 2008
This review is from: Scosche UBRH Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I bought this item and found out it doesn't play nice with wifi. My phone, a Samsung A717, connected fine and played music. My phone does have EDP. I was unable to control the volume, and the sound "skipped" a lot. The it cut out entirely, and any attempt to reconnect failed. I have to power cycle the device, and the I can reconnect and get a few more minutes of music.

Not recommended.

Does not play nice with Wifi.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Bluetooth A2DP and HFP Integration for Car, September 19, 2011
This review is from: Scosche UBRH Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I saw a few negative reviews and they could just be isolated personal experiences with bluetooth or faulty units. I was seeking a solution to use with my CarPC project that handles both A2DP and HFP using one device rather than rigging a solution that involves multiple devices and hookups. I can pair my phone and listen to music through it allowing the music to flow through my car speakers, in addition to making and receiving phone calls. Awesome! All from one device.

So there is one drawback that makes me want to look for different solution in my car. While you can pair multiple devices only one will connect at a time. So you can listen to music through your tablet then expect to make calls from your paired phone because only one device will connect at a time...but that's it. Not everyone is using this device as I am so the simple solution out the box works as described perfectly.

oh... and yes it does take too long for the device to power up after the car turns on. That is my other negative point.

1.0 out of 5 stars This has terrible range, July 8, 2010
This review is from: Scosche UBRH Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I bought this thing and got it installed.. First of all the installation cost more than the device. Second the range does not even extend from trunk where I installed it to front of car. i.e: Only works from back seat.. Really crappy product

1.0 out of 5 stars Does not stay connected, December 5, 2009
This review is from: Scosche UBRH Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I have tried 2 of these units, and both of them would disconnect after a few minutes of use. I tried it on 3 different cell phones to stream music. (2 BlackBerrys and a LG phone)
All would connect, play for 2 or 3 minutes, then disconnect. Then the Scosche unit would not want to reconnect. I had to shut it off and back on before I could get it to reconnect.

Poor sound quality, very short range. Not worth the price.

I have since bought the Bluetooth Stereo Gateway DC800 Bluetooth Adapter for Home Stereo. That unit works about 1000 times better. It has better range, quality, and does not lose the connection. I purchased an adapter to make it work in the car too.

4.0 out of 5 stars You need to fiddle with bluetooth, but it will work, June 8, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Scosche UBRH Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I didnt buy this kit for my car, I bought it so I could transmit music from my laptop to my stereo without having to be plugged in. I dont see a reason why my purpose for this device would matter though. As soon as the device arrived, I hooked it up immediately to test it out. Im no expert in bluetooth - in fact, Id say Ive spent hours frustrated by bluetooth serial ports, pairing, and basic communication issues with my IOGear USB bluetooth adapter. When I finally got it working, the audio was horrible. I didnt know whether it was the device, the USB adaptor, or my recurring frustrations with bluetooth that were causing it. I also tried it with my sister's new laptop which is running vista. It paired and reestablished the connection seemlessly, but the audio on that was also very poor. The problem turned out to be minor. By default, this device was identified as a hands free audio device - one of those ear pieces with limited audio range. Through control panel/sounds, I went to the audio tab and selected "Bluetooth stereo" as my default playback device and the sound quality was instantly better - in fact, it was as good as I had expected it to be. I dont notice anything that would imply the audio is being transferred by bluetooth or anything other than a standard audio cable. So Im happy. But with my XP machine I still have to automatically connect to the device each time. If you are having trouble with audio quality, dont give up. It will work just fine once you figure it out.

2.0 out of 5 stars Does not automatically re-pair to my Blackberry 8100, July 10, 2008
This review is from: Scosche UBRH Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I bought this because I wanted a BT speakerphone that turned on and off with my car. I previously used a Motorola T305 that had to be manually turned on when entering the car, and wanted something automatic.

The Scosche unit turns on automatically, but takes a long time to turn on after power is applied (even with the AC adaptor in-home) and does not reconnect automatically to my Blackberry 8100. I must navigate to the Blackberry's Bluetooth menu, select "SCOSCHE" and re-connect manually. Every other Bluetooth device I've used with my Blackberry (several models of ear-headsets, the aforementioned T305 speaker-phone, and a Parrot speaker-phone, all re-pair automatically within SECONDS of being powered up.

What a disappointment.
