4.0 out of 5 stars Works just fine for the price
Not the highest quality sound (slight hiss or white noise with the volume up fairly high) but perfectly fine for everyday casual use. Mine had a straight cord, instead of the curly cord pictured (didn't matter to me but might to some). Certainly can't beat the price; even when I could FIND one locally it was at least $20.

3.0 out of 5 stars Better than some
The one I received does not have a coiled cord like the one in the picture. I chose this one over others because I thought it had a coiled cord. On the other hand, it works fine. I have had others before that were mechanically noisy, but this one is pretty quiet. I have never had an FM transmitter work worth a darn for me, and it is nice to have a practical use again for...

5.0 out of 5 stars iPod Cassette Adapter, April 5, 2008
This review is from: Scosche PCA1 Universal Cassette Adapter for iPod & MP3 players (Electronics)
I love it. Nuff said, but not really. It doesn't look anything like the one in the picture. The one I got didn't have a strechy cord like it looks like in the picture, it's all black except where the blue is which is a grey. But if you don't care (which I don't) it's a good product with an awesome sound quality except at the really loud volumes, which has *some* noise.

Worked well for a week or two, then started emitting a loud thumping noise then constantly ejected itself. Maybe this is a one off, defective unit.

1.0 out of 5 stars Rubbish, October 28, 2010

I did not believe the negative reviews but boy was I wrong. I thought how can you go wrong with a tape adapter? You can! This product is very different from a high quality one I have from Sony - it is ten years old and still works, except for the cord having a small short from years of abuse. This Scosche adapter is rubbish! The magnetic head for transferring the audio to your device is small, half as small as my Sony's. Also it is not flush with the base of the adapter as it should be. The result? If your device is not sensitive enough, it will read absolutely nothing. No sound, no point, don't buy!

1.0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for, October 5, 2011
This review is from: Scosche PCA1 Universal Cassette Adapter for iPod & MP3 players (Electronics)
Purchased this a couple months ago. Worked fine for the first several weeks. After that it started making an internal repetitive sound wasn't sure if it way the adapter or the stereo. Bought a cassette cleaner and tried a couple other tapes after that, it wasn't the stereo, it was the adapter. Still works, but makes an annoying sound that unless you have the volume up fairly high you can hear over the music. Like I said in the title for the review, "you get what you pay for"

I bought a used car months ago and it comes with a factory cd + cassette stereo with no Auxiliary input. I was so close on spending hundred of dollars upgrading my stereo just to have the aux input for my iPhone. Then I found this cheapo item on Amazon and I thought, hey I could waste 6 bucks on this just to see whether it will even work. Mind you that I've been using FM transmitter for a while and they all performed badly. It's hard find an empty frequency in San Francisco Area so I rarely use that FM transmitter anymore. BTW This adapter I received look nothing like the posted pictures. Mine is a black one with a regular straight cord.

Since all I have to do is insert this device in the cassette slot, it took less than a second to "install". The sound quality is impressive. I play a lot of rock music and they all come out loud and clear - in fact they sound as good as listen to one of the cds I have in the car.

I'm so impressed with this thing I have to write a review. If you're like me, someone who is thinking about upgrading the stereo just to have the aux input, or someone with a smart phone/mp3 player who has a car that comes with s stock cassette stereo, you should try this adapter first. You'll save a lot of time and money. I know I did. Worth every penny!

3.0 out of 5 stars Does the job with a little difficulty and no frills, December 24, 2010

First off, like all the other reviews say, this is a black product with a straight, non-coiled cord. So if that was your primary motivation for buying this product, look elsewhere.

The adapter works pretty well -- it's easy as pie to use (especially as compared to iTrips), and the sound quality is pretty good. My only complaint is that there is a clicking and grinding noise when the adapter is in use. This really isn't that much of a problem if you are like me and play your music fairly loudly, but if you're the softer music type, the noise would get really annoying.

Overall, for the price, it works.

I like this product! Sound quality is good and it is lowest priced car cassette adapter! It's just the picture is misleading-- it's black, not white. The wire is straight, not "coiled(?)".
Like it anyway.
