I purchased this item after hearing Andy Ihnatko's pick/review on MacBreak Weekly. I have been using the Apple designed cases on two iPads and while they did the job I was never totally satisfied with the material and design. Seven months later and after a lot of use small parts of the cases are delaminating. The Scosche doubleDUTY Leather case is a more finely finished product made with good materials and refined engineering. For typing it is just as good as the Apple case but for reading it is vastly superior providing a variety of angles which is particularly handy if you use the iPad in lots of different lighting arrangements. You can find an angle to diminish any screen reflection/glare problem. I use the Moshi iVisor AG matte screen protectors (which are wonderful for bubble free glare reduction) and found no conflict between the clips which secure the edges of the iPad and the Moshi laminate. I have stopped using the Apple cases altogether. The only downside of the Scosche which might be a consideration for some is that it weighs a bit more than the Apple case so for using it one-handed you notice the difference and it is somewhat thicker. Those two aspects don't detract from all the positives for me.

Very nice case. I had the Apple case, which was OK, but wasn't comfortable to hold and got very dirty. I heard about this case on a podcast, and have really liked it. It fits the ipad nice and snug and secure. It has a nice fell to it and is comfortable to hold. If you fold it back while reading in portrait mode, it doesn't quite go all the way back, but that hasn't bothered me.
It's best feature is the multiple viewing angles you can have while in landscape mode. If you have an iPad, you know it is susceptible to glare and this really helps that problem. It makes it much easy to read off of, or watch videos. This way also works while I'm laying on a couch and it's on my chest. Highly recommend the case, and it's a great value compared to prices of other case out there.

I have used the both the Apple case and the Targus Truss case. In addition, I have looked at several other cases, both on friends' iPads and online. This one is a definite winner. It is fitted perfect to the contour of the iPad. It is not in the least bit bulky like the Targus and many other cases out there. The only case that I have seen that is thinner is the Apple case. This case gives you multiple landscape viewing angles and great protection, just like some of the bulky cases. Also, the quality of the leather is quite nice. It is a fine-grain leather with a smooth, slightly glossy finish.
The only potential negative is that the case does not have the margin of leather extending from the edge like many other (bulkier) cases have. Obviously the extended margin will offer additional protection in the case of a fall, however that additional protection comes at the cost of adding bulk to the case. As far as I am concerned, the protection offered by the tabs that hold the iPad in place will provide sufficient protection from most bumps.
Bottom line: A very versatile case that doesn't turn your iPad into an iMilk-Crate like some of the other cases.
