I got this item for a long road trip and it performed perfectly until...

I plugged in my GPS and a portable DVD player. It shortly blew. When I say it blew I mean it got hot enough to melt the plastic inside the main male plug as well as the springs inside that hold the fuse was turned into a pool of melted metal. It was completely destroyed. Not to mention the smell of burning plastic lingering in the cabin of the car.

The lesson is that this unit can only handle a maximum load of 2.5 amps TOTAL. Before you buy check and make sure that the devices you are plugging into it do not exceed this rating. For me its the GPS thats the problem in drawing 2.1 amps by itself. I was ok at first because I was using it first with my GPS and the Scosche USB charger accessory which only draws .5 amps.

Overall I was satisfied with this product. I only wish they would have noted its maximum load rating in the product specs.

The male portion of the power socket is not long enough for it to be easily employed in a Honda Accord 2005. And so I don't even bother using it. And it's too cheap for me to put forth the effort of returning it.

I got this one after my previous (and cheaper) one has blown the fuse of my car lighter. I needed 2 connections so I could keep my GPS and a charger (either iphone or my car bluetooth) connected.

The item works as advertised. The item I received do not match the picture, which result in me lowering the rating. I did prefer the look of the one showed here, but since it works just the same, I decided to keep it.

Used with a Jeep Grand Cherokee & with a Brunton Solaris 26 solar panel. Fits the socket well, supports the weight of 2 adapters plugged in, & has smooth edges. Doesn't have that cheap "made in China" feel (though it probably is) where seams don't close tight & plastic edges have burrs.

When purchased, it came with a promotional $5 amazon music download code. May buy another one for the other car.

After years of searching, I finally found a socket splitter that worlks with my car. This design is perfect. It isnt big or poorly shaped. Those two designs make it versatile in every car I have taken it. It is for this reason alone that I have given this device 5 stars.

Pros: Small design; allowing it to fit in most car spaces
Sturdy design; looks/feels like it can take years of use.
Affordable.
Cons: Havent found any as of yet.

I put a GPS and a Blackberry cell phone cords into the socket and those combinations were too heavy for the unit. I would touch, accidently tap it etc and my electronics lost power. I took out the GPS MSN Direct out and put only the two cell phone cables into the socket and it works fine even if I touch it. Therefore, if you are having problems or if you are thinking about buying this then reconfigure the unit by moving around your cords to make the perfect fit.

I needed something that would allow me to charge my iPod and cell phone simultaneously, while fitting into the slightly recessed power outlet in my '99 Honda Civic. This item does what it claims, in a reasonable form factor. My only complaint is that it has come loose on occasion, but that seems hard to avoid completely.

Simply put, the title says it all. This is cheap junk that, in the wrong situation, could be dangerous. I've added a photo of what happened to one of two units that I bought for use in one of our cars (the other was a "just in case" unit, but will go straight into the trash now.) The jack melted in the accessory plug under no strain with only one jack in one of the two inputs - an XM jack. There was no unusual demand on the unit, the XM was not on, in fact, but it blew fuse after fuse. I'm glad I put this on a standard accessory jack and not something jerry-rigged like many do to get an extra jack in their cars, one that might not have been on a fused line at all. Buyer beware - this may not be a safe piece of equipment at all.

They are only good for flat surface, deeper recess sockets in Subaru will not work.

GREAT PRODUCT. I EVEN GOT ONE FROM MY AUTO MAKER AND IT DIDN'T WORK AT ALL. THIS PRODUCT IS GREAT.
