The positive with this is that it's very sticky stuff and does adequately hold up the slices of cork board to the closet. The only negative that I have with this stuff is that it's very difficult to get the backing tape off. Essentially it unrolls out onto your surface. Then you need to somehow get the backing label off. I tried using my fingers. No go. I tried using pulling. No go. Finally, I found that if I cut the tape with a knife, I could scrap up an edge. Then using needle nose pliers, I could grasp an edge and peel up the back.
Once I figured it the trick, the rest of the project went quickly.
After that you need to apply firm pressure for 30 minutes to an hour to give the tape time to bond, just like you would with glue or epoxy.
You should also avoid using it in very wet and/or hot environments.
If you follow these steps, you should find the tape works as avertised.
So, to recap:
1. Clean both surfaces
2. Apply Tape to one surface by pressing firmly
3. Press objects together
4. Apply steady pressure for 30 to 60 min
Since then I've used it for all kinds of mounting that I didn't want to come loose. Made a back-plate for a bathroom towel rack that pulled out the anchors. Used 3" circle of 1/2" plywood, painted it and stuck it to wall over the hole and had no problems since.
If you are looking for permanent adhesion, this is your tape.
