Scotch® Cellulose Tape was invented in 1930 by Richard Drew, a 3M scientist. Later renamed Cellophane Tape, the tape was originally designed to be an attractive, moisture-proof way for grocers and bakers to seal cellophane wrap. When it comes to packaging tape, one size doesn't fit all. Sometimes you only need to seal small boxes and envelopes. Other times, you want tape that can withstand years of storage. That's why Scotch® Packaging Tapes come in a variety of options to meet various shipping, moving, and storage needs.

This tape is horrible, doesn't stick to anything,

Yes, a tape review. I mail boxes now and then and tape all the seams. I foolishly bought this tape along with a heavy duty shipping tape. The shipping tape works wonders, sticks like it should and doesn't peel up. This tape is called mailing tape. One would think it could seal packages. It doesn't. A standard roll of desktop scotch tape is stronger than this stuff. And it isn't cheap either, costs the same as heavy duty packaging tape.My daughter just asked for tape for some paper, I gave her this shipping tape so she could tape 2 pieces of paper together. She just laughed as the tape kept peeling off and the papers wouldn't stay together. I am tempted to send this to Scotch and tell them it is CRAP and a waste of my money, which I do not like.

worst tape ever,

Even though I did not order this off of Amazon, I looked it up just to see if others had the same horrible experience as I did, or if I received a poorly manufactured roll. This tape honestly does not stick to anything at all!! I had to roll this tape around and around a package I was sending back to Amazon, and I ended up using a ton a tape, which I felt horrible about because it's so un-eco friendly. I don't understand why this tape says "meets postal regulations" on it, because it won't even hold together an envelope....DO NOT BUY THIS! Cannot repeat enough. I wish Scotch would issue a recall to save poor innocent packages from this horrendous tape.

Agree with both reviews - the tape doesn't work. How this is possible, I don't know. I actually did contact Scotch (3M) because I was just so annoyed. How can you sell non-sticky PACKING tape? They did get back to me and said they'd forward on the issue to their quality control department but, really, what can you do? Send me more bum tape? Anyway, skip this tape. Go for the good old generic storebrand packing/shipping tape and you'll be better off.
