I spent the money just to have this in my closet.

Cutting the tape requires you to flick your wrist up with some serious force in order to push the knife out.

I often end up getting the tape stuck to itself when attempting to free the stuck tape.

Purchased directly from Amazon for $14.75

The tape is sturdy and plenty sticky. The dispenser however, is a bit clunky. It seems well made, but I tried using it to tape a box and it didn't cut the tape. Might be better for large boxes (my box was shoe-box sized). I have a cheapie dispenser that works better than this one.

But, since the package was still cheaper than local office stores, I'm giving it 4 stars since it's the same high quality Scotch Heavy Duty Shipping & Packing tape that I'm used to purchasing from brick and mortar stores.

Great product, great price. A bit tricky at first trying to figure out what parts needed to be taken off of it. As it has a sharp cutting area.. they screwed in some other pieces that you need to take off first. Once I got it working it was a bit stiff but quickly become useable.

Not only is this the worst tape dispenser I have ever used, it is quite possibly the worst product or service of any kind that I have ever used. It's worse than that crappy flight from Charlotte I was on a few years ago. It's worse than the movie "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band." Future generations of industrial design students will open their textbooks to find a picture of this item with the word "NO!" stamped across it.

Here's why it's so awful:

1) There's a silver tab that acts to keep the tape up against the roller wheel instead of flopping down and sticking to the handle. The tape loves to stick to the tab when it's being threaded on the dispenser. If you're not a surgeon, you're probably not going to be steady enough to thread it without issues. Eventually, you will get it threaded. This is unfortunate because it means you're going to experience using the product.

2) Laying down a strip of tape is probably the one part of the process that works "OK" here, provided you've given the dispenser enough leader to work with, and provided it's not stuck to the silver tab. (See #1) I've used other models that take far less length to grab hold.

3) Cutting the tape requires you to flick your wrist up with some serious force in order to push the knife out. I got it to work correctly about 50% of the time. I've used other models that require almost no effort and give perfect results about 95% of the time.

I had no idea that a tape dispenser could be pure evil. Now I know. I wasted a lot of tape then I finally just threw it out.

This is the first time I've ever written a review for hundreds of items I've bought online. This tape dispenser is horrible!! The tape keeps sticking on the dispenser. It was difficult to get it to work. I used to pack boxes at work for customers. I've used many different kinds of tape dispenser. I would not recommend this to anyone. Tapes are just okay.

When you get the angle perfect, you can cut the tape, but not easily. This is by far the worst tape dispenser that I've ever used. Even the cheap disposable ones are much better, or at least they were when I bought some a few years ago. I thought I'd save a little plastic from the environment, so bought two of these dispensers. Neither works well.

The tape dispenser is not working at all. Every time, you need to manually peel off the stuck tape. Believe this is a design flaw, commonly associated with a new technology involved. Not recommended.

This tape gun is useless. I have used the 3M brand guns for many, many years without problem. I got so frustrated with this gun that I opted to use my teeth! The tape gets stuck on the roller wheel and then it's really hard to cut because serrated teeth are recessed so far. This is certainly going to be safer, if you tend to poke yourself a lot with the cutter. It has no redeemable qualities, in my opinion.
