These red insulated connectors, sometimes called suitcase connectors, for smaller wire sizes are impossible to find in retail stores. These are for wire sizes 18 through 22, not for the sizes described. The blue ones, for the larger wire sizes 14-18, are easily found in retail stores.
The price was excellent, the service superb.

These connectors are super easy to use, and a great labor saver. I am using them on a model railroad layout, where I need to connect 22 gauge feeder wires from the track to the 14 gauge bus wire running underneath the roadbed in order to supply electrical power to run the locomotives. You just slip the Scotchlok connector over the 14 gauge wire, insert the 22 gauge feeder wire into the one end, and crimp the connector. No more difficult soldering of wire to wire when you are underneath the layout working "overhead". Price is very affordable.

This is an excellent product to connect feeder wires from the buss runs to the tracks on a model railroad. No more soldering, stipping, etc.

This works great. Much more convenient than stripping and soldering. I used it to hook up some low-voltage audio cables in my car.

One note. This is for approx 18-22 AWG cables. if your cables are smaller than 22 AWG, then this cable holder might not pierce them enough for conductivity, since the gap in the electrical contact is made for a thicker wire. To surmount this for my thinner cables, I manually stripped both cables, twisted the copper together, and then I used the Scotchlok with both cables in the *same* side of the lock. The lock functions to hold the two wires together at the contact point, and I get a solid electrical contact even if I jiggle the wires around. Used this way, the lock also provided a reasonably mechanical hold (I tested by lightly tugging on the contact - but didn't pull with all my might either...)

These are very easy to use. I was connecting an automotive accessory, and had to splice into the existing car wiring. There was very little room to work, and I could barely see the point of connection. It would have been a monumental chore with wire nuts, especially since there was almost no slack in the wires. These connectors enabled me to make the splice easily. I used the blue ones for one device, and these low-voltage red ones for another connection. They are clever devices.

I hate to admit that it took a bit of trial and error to get these to work but they are much more robust than crimp connectors. You can tap a line or connect 2 lines together; one channel is open all the way, the other has a stop. Make sure that the wire in the stopped channel is caught by the metal crimp (one side of the channel isn't). Insert the wires, push down the metal crimp, and fold over the plastic. Pull on the wires to test.

We have been using these 3M Scotchlok connectors on our Lo-Glow light kits for 2 years and never have had a complaint or issue. The Parts Express store shipped the order quickly and there were no issues. Their price at Parts Express is among the best on the internet. I will go back to these guys again and again!

Fantastic application for my HO train layout. Reduces the need to solder each and every wire (bus to feeder, etc.) and is very easy to use. Even reduces the number of wires that need to be stripped since the bus and feeder wires are simply placed into their respective channels and clamped in placed (I used a vice grip set for a specific amount of closure and obtained excellent results). As an aside, if you wish to reduce the number of suitcase connectors you use, and the distance for the feeders allows, you can drill through the smaller feeder (tap) channel and run a feeder to two (2) separate locations (Credit: I saw a video from Australia where the gentleman used that technique; it worked for me in one location when I made an alteration in my layout and was otherwise somewhat stuck with the original wiring).
