Book Description

May 2002
Scotland is the home of golf. Thousands visit the country every year to experience and explore the difficulties and delights of the greatest courses in the world, and most make the pilgrimage to St Andrews, where the game was first played in the fifteenth century. No matter how good, golfers never believe they have really played the game until they have attempted to master the subtle intricacies of at least one of ScotlandOs rich variety of courses, be it St Andrews or the other Open Championship venues of Carnoustie, Muirfield, Turnberry or Royal Troon. Or the beautiful Royal Dornoch, Gleneagles or Loch Lomond. Or any other of ScotlandOs golfing gems. Since ScotlandOs Golf Courses: The Complete Guide was first published in 1997, many new courses have been built in keeping with the finest Scottish traditions. Now this new updated edition, dedicated to the excellence of Scottish golf, provides all the essential information on more than 500 courses. It includes a directory of clubs, with a description of each course, how to get there, facilities, catering, green fees and hotel accommodation, plus photographs as well as diagrams of ScotlandOs most interesting and challenging holes. ScotlandOs Golf Courses: The Complete Guide is essential if you are golfing in Scotland.

5.0 out of 5 stars A definitive work, April 17, 2002

Congratulations to Vic Robbie on his revised edition of Scotland's Golf Courses. The first book was good but this is even better with more information and write-ups on courses, including all the new ones that have sprung up in recent years. The photographs by Brian Morgan, the world's No.1 golf photographer, are great and give you a real taste of golfing in Scotland.

2.0 out of 5 stars Scotland's Golf Guide, May 31, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Just ok. This book was last printed in the late 1990s, so much of the greens fee information is out of date. The book seems to lack a real world narrative that might be helpful to the newbie looking for helpful anecdotal information. My two biggest selling points for the book were 1) that it came in hard cover and 2) it had a nice cover photo. Outside of that it moved quickly to the 'golf book shelf' without getting much attention.

Disappointing....

5.0 out of 5 stars A must if you are playing golf in Scotland, March 31, 2002
A great book. I wanted to explore Scotland and its golf and Scotland's Golf Courses: The Complete Guide was the perfect guide to the country and the game. Not only did it tell me all about the famous courses but also the hidden gems which I will go back and play again. It had so much information in it that all I had to do was turn up and play.
