I have all three editions of this book. Very highly recommended as the standard reference on Scots heraldry.

There are three editions of the text by Thomas Innes of Learney:1st Ed 1934; 2nd Ed 1956 after he was knighted; 3rd Ed 1978 for which the revisor was the author's son (Sir) Malcolm Innes of Edingight. Each edition has its own special values. Both father and son were the Lord Lyon King of Arms. The illustrations of the first ed may be more extensive than later ones. The 2nd ed is the most detailed. The 3rd has the arms of the Duke of Rothesay (HRH Prince Charles).

The author's name is not "Thomas Innes", it is "Sir Thomas Innes of Learney". The "of Learney" is an integral part of his name, as you would know if you had read the book.
