Too much too fast, August 3, 2002
This review is from: Scott Cole's Discover Tai Chi for Beginners - Workout Essentials w/Booklet [VHS] (VHS Tape)
While Scott Cole may a leading expert in Tai Chi, I found this video lacking (I also purchased the AM Workout). The moves are demonstrated in his studio. There is only 1 camera angle - directly in front of him. The moves are not explained in detail, rather he does the move while telling you about it. He then goes on to the next move. I am very new to all of this and would rather have it repeated a few times in the beginning as well as a camera shot behind him so I can compare my body stance with his.
This video would be better suited to someone who is familar with Tai Chi and the moves to create a nice routine or add to one you already do.

Dear Scott,
If you are out there somewhere reading this, please know that you have changed my life in the two weeks that I have been doing your discover tai chi workout. I have a HUGE library of workout tapes, which, after the initial enthusiasm I feel that I have found something I can do on a regular basis, I realize I do not care to do them anymore and find any excuse not to. So, my search continued, I thought in vain, but nevertheless I came across your tape and thought, well I do have a tai chi tape that I bought a long while ago and left me confused, bewildered and disappointed, but why not, I have not heard of you before and I know I need to have some exercise routine. So I got your beginner's tape and now EVERYTIME, since the first time, I complete your tape I feel at peace and centered and comforted and I could go on and on with the adjectives, but my point is the feeling I am left with is pure joy. :) It is now about noon on a Monday and I have already done laundry, food shopping, cleaning and have fun tasks like ironing and cooking and dishes to look forward to later on, but none of that matters now. After I write this review I am going to do the Tai Chi for beginners workout and I know I will feel calm and invigorated again. Thank you so much Scott and continued blessings for sharing your talent and knowledge with us and making it fun and leaving me with a palpable, portable tranquility. For all of you out there, hesitating, thinking that this is just another exercise tape, it is not. If you are tired of exercise videos that leave you starving and depleted of your energy, if you are tired of exercise videos that leave you aching all over and hurt your back or other areas of your body, if you are tired of not looking forward to exercise, get this tape! I promise you, you will not regret it, if your mind is open and ready to regain its original state of lovely bliss.
Peace and Joy to all!
I love you Scott! :) Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I am currently attending a Tai Chi class for Seniors. I wanted a tape to use at home.I found this one very helpful as Scott works in mirror image of what you are doing. That is the way our teacher does, and it's very easy to follow. I've auditioned a number of tapes and find them hard to follow since they are NOT doing it in mirror image. I'm not aspiring to be a Tai Chi master. I just wanted a nice relaxing tape to exercise to and I found this one perfect for me. I do it everyday if possible. I am not an exercising person but this I will do!'
