Scott Joplin was a gifted and talented composer in the era of American ragtime music. He rose through a difficult life to become known as the King of Ragtime. His works are among the greatest of classical music compositions. Marvin Hamlisch arranged some of Joplin s most beautiful tunes for the movie The Sting and won Academy Awards for them over 50 years after Joplin s death.
