Customer Reviews

I gave this as a Christmas present, and the recipient loved all the books!
Mel
Characters are endearing and relate-able, creating this interesting feeling of realism in a cartoonie story that constantly brushes up against the unrealistic.
Pippykins
I'm not a huge fan of comics or graphic novels generally, but I read this series and fell in love with it.

So yea, this is an incredibly amazing series and everyone needs to read it right now forever but why is this bundle here?

The bundle is $46.98 from Amazon while buying each individual volume from Amazon comes to $42.50 (at least right now).

Don't be fooled by the convenient "bundling." It's cheaper to buy them individually.

"Scott Pilgrim vs. the World," the striking film version of the inspired series by Bryan Lee O'Malley, had a disappointing run this year in terms of box office. Even with surprising critical support, the film fell below expectations from a money making standpoint. Now, as we are poised for the DVD release (11/9/10), I think the world of Scott Pilgrim is about to explode as new fans to the irreverent charm of Scott and company discover the delightfully skewed source material. And I thought, I'd recap the highlights as I've gone back to appreciate the six volumes anew.

Volume One: Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life. The 2004 introduction to Scott Pilgrim and his motley band of acquaintances sets the tone perfectly for all that is to follow. We meet the band and Scott's gay roommate, but it's Scott's love life that takes center stage (naturally)! His chaste courtship with the slightly obsessed Knives is hysterical--but everything changes when a bewitching Amazon delivery girl named Ramona literally invades his mind. Setting his heart on the mysterious Ramona, Scott soon discovers she has some pretty heavy baggage in the form of seven evil ex-boyfriends that need to be dispatched. A great start to an increasingly bizarre series!

Volume Two: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. The saga continued in 2005 with a chapter that provided numerous flashbacks developing some of Scott's formative relationships. His deepening affection for Ramona serves to unleash the warrior in Knives. Even as the couple deal with Knives' new aggression, Ramona's second evil ex (a movie star, no less!) drops by and must be dealt with. That's no problem, really, when appealing to his pride and machismo--and his demise barely even registers in comparison to Scott's ex Envy reappearing.

It's currently about $26 to purchase the six volumes independently via Amazon. Do that, instead of this $45 pit o' money.

Ok, It may be cheaper to buy the books individually if you live in the US (Free Postage and what not), but for International Buyers, the bundle works out cheaper when it comes to the package plus postage.

Just thought I'd throw that out there for all you buyers outside the US wanting to collect this awesome series.

Buying these books at the store they are 11.99 each, but on amazon they are only about 7 each. And don't listen to the people who say it's cheaper to buy them individually, shipping makes it cost more than the bundle. The books themselves are absolutely brilliant, and must be read by all contemporary readers, or anyone who enjoys a great story and a good laugh.

If you enjoy graphic novels at all you will probably love this series. Manga/Video Game fans too... the video game and movie spawned from it are both fun too

I bought these for my roommate for her birthday, and unfortunately, I cannot suggest it as a gift.
If you're in love with Scott Pilgrim, you will probably read all of these in a matter of days. But, people who liked the movie aren't going to love this. They might. My roommate never read any of them, I did. It was a good present for me. Unless you know the person you're getting these for is obsessed with everything Scott Pilgrim, you can't guarantee they'll like it.

Pros:

-Perfect for a Scott Pilgrim lover.

-Pretty cheap for how many books you buy.

-Full of great jokes and references, especially for anyone into young pop culture and video-games.

-Obviously has more content then the movie.

Cons

-Cheap paper. I probably ripped a couple pages

-Not an ideal gift

-Art is low quality, it can take away from the experience to anyone who's not used to reading comics.
