Amazon.com Product Description

Tired of the same-old look when it comes to stereo systems? Consider the HH Scott SJ510 freestanding music center, which integrates a CD player, cassette deck, and AM/FM tuner into a unique elevated tower. Measuring 10 inches wide by 31 inches high and boasting a pair of 30-inch-tall speakers, the system's unique housing (think high-tech sarcophagus) fits nicely on a table or a short bookshelf, or even on the floor of a spacious apartment. It's particularly appropriate for people who have a fair amount of vertical space but can't fit traditionally wide stereo components into their entertainment setups. Fortunately for listeners, a narrow footprint isn't the system's only advantage. The 7.5-watt speakers reproduce high and mid tones with crisp precision, while lows radiate from the 20-watt subwoofer, which sits cleverly beneath the main unit. Additional audio enhancements derive from the four preset equalizer modes, which offer custom settings depending on your taste, and the X-Bass control, which adds extra thump when needed.

Specific component functions vary from a 20-song programmable CD memory to an electric volume control to an auto-stop cassette deck. In addition, the unit's AM/FM tuner includes 40 station presets, making it easy to channel surf. And listeners will always know which track or station they're enjoying thanks to the LCD display, which switches to a clock when the stereo is turned off. The SJ510 weighs 40 pounds total and comes with a multifunction remote control. It also carries a limited one-year warranty.

What's in the Box
SJ510 stereo, two speakers, subwoofer, multifunction remote control, user's manual.

5.0 out of 5 stars An attractively designed music system., January 16, 2007
This review is from: HH Scott SJ510 Freestanding CD/Cassette Tower Music Center (Silver/Burlwood) (Electronics)
Being vertical rather than horizontal, it fits quite nicely in my living room which is limited in wall space. I like the silver/wood finish and it's design puts it in a class all by itself compared to all those other rectangular and squared off shelf systems. Has ample power for a condo. You have to position it to get the best radio reception and I find that near an outer wall seems to work well especially the FM reception with the FM antenna wire stretched its full length toward the doorway. Easy to assemble. The instuctions were a little fuzzy on inserting the CD. It says to press the button to open the CD door and put in the disc but didn't say how to put it in. This is a vertical CD player and when the door opens to a 45 degree angle you simply put the cd on the cd stand located on the door with the play side up. Press the button to close the door and the system automatically positions the disc for play. Ease of use is an improvement over the horizontal format on my boombox. With the woofer the music sounds so much better. Cassettes are not in much use anymore and I don't have any cassettes and probably wont use that part of it. Because it's a floor model;very attractive;made for limited space;plays nicely for the small space it's in, it's economical for the money spent and looks expensive but isn't.
