4.0 out of 5 stars excellent bath tissue even if a bit rough for some people
Scott makes a great toilet tissue: it seems that I get longer use out of a roll than when I tried other brands such as Charmin. The roll is thick but it's easy to store in the 20 roll plastic bag it comes in or you can unpack the twenty rolls and store them in various bathrooms or closets around your home.

1.0 out of 5 stars Did you think shrinking the width of the paper would go unnoticed?
It seems that, in order to maintain 1000 sheets per roll, Scott has lopped a half inch or so from the width of the sheets. Do you really think consumers are so stupid that this move would go unnoticed? I've been buying Scott tissue for years, but will be changing to a company that doesn't take such a dishonest approach to raising prices.

As at least one other reviewer has noted, there is a slight trick to starting the roll. The actual roll of toilet tissue comes wrapped in paper. Therefore you first unwrap the roll of toilet paper; and when you unwrap that roll, the first few sheets of the toilet paper are stuck to the rest of the roll by a very mild glue. Nevertheless, I have had to carefully examine the darn thing to decide where the roll begins and where to pull away the first few sheets of toilet tissue. Ay!

On the bright side, however, this toilet tissue is easy on your toilet pipes and I've never had a clog. Don't use too much or you WILL get a clogged toilet--but you'll be able to use it well intuitively.

Naturally toilet paper never "goes stale" or "wears out." If you can catch a sale on this item and you like it, stock up!

The only real drawback which turns some people off is that the actual toilet paper itself is not as soft as some other brands--like Charmin. This is totally a matter of personal preference. I have used both and both get the job done. However, I noticed that Charmin and similar ultra soft brands seemed to go faster than Scott tissue did. Scott is not too rough for me; but I will take off one star because of this issue to make this a four star review.

Overall, Scott toilet tissue is well worth a try, especially when you get it on sale. Try some today--I hope you are satisfied with it!

5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZON PRICE - CHEAPER THAN WALMART + NO HAULING FROM THE STORE, December 28, 2007

I always buy Scott Bath Tissue, anyway! It may not be as soft as Charmin or some of the other softer brands of TP, but it is just fine for our family's needs and besides it just gets flushed down the toilet anyway. I hate changing TP rolls and this way, I don't have to change as often as those softer brands. I am always looking for ways to save money on Grocery/Household items. This saves me only about $10.00 per year but then I don't have to transport it myself from the store. With the subscription rate including free shipping, Scott Bath Tissue white - 20 ct pkgs (pack of 2) is about 74 cents a roll. It costs me approximately 79 cents a roll at Walmart, including tax. So, I feel that this may be a small savings of $ but an added savings to my slowly- getting-older body!

1.0 out of 5 stars Way overpriced!, April 11, 2008

The warehouse club price for this brand is $0.61/roll. Even before shipping and with the 15% subscription discount, this is $0.83/roll. So, it's 36% more expensive here than at Sam's Club. The house brand is even less expensive, at $0.42/roll. So, you'll pay a high price for the convenience of having this delivered!

This is not something I take pleasure in buying but it is important nonetheless. I have tried every brand out there. Scott, 1000 sheets has my vote. It has the necessary softness and is more than competitive in how long it lasts. The case pack is a convenient way to order. Now, I don't have to add bath tissue to my grocery list every week.

1.0 out of 5 stars Premium means BETTER, not same-as. A once proud name should be ashamed., December 22, 2010

This review is from: Scott Bath Tissue, White, 20-Count Packages (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
Sad to say, Scott toilet paper has been downgraded and is no longer a premium product, it just still has its premium price. A premium product is meant to offer a choice for the consumer who would rather spend a little more to get something better. Scott has done a "me too" downsizing on their toilet tissue to 4.1", "to align it with the market" or some such nonsense (this is what their own reps say). The purpose of a PREMIUM product is not to be aligned with everybody else on the market, it is to be better. Sadly, Scott toilet tissue is no longer better and is not worth the extra money. Like Maytag, they just continue to label their product with the name even though what's behind the label is me-too. This product is not deserving of the Scott name when it won't even fit in many toilet paper dispensers.

I think the previous reviewer is dividing by 20 rather than 40 rolls (two 20 roll packs). I get a figure of approximately 80 cents per roll. With the $10.00 Amazon discount, the price drops to approximately 55 cents a roll.

4.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT VALUE & PERFECT FOR SOME WHILE A LITTLE TO RUGGED FOR OTHERS, August 30, 2006
This review is from: Scott Bath Tissue, White, 20-Count Packages (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
YES SCOTT'S IS THE MOST POPULAR BATHROOM TISSUE SINCE TIME BEGAN -- BUT

THE "BOUNTY" of Bathroom Tissue: BUT THIS STD. FORM IS A LITTLE ROUGH

This "Scott Bathroom Tissue" is strong, very long lasting, and a terrific value. There is, however, one rub -- it is a little rough for this application, especially for frequent usage [which is why they recently introduced a "Scott's Extra Soft" product]. "Charmin Ultra" would be a better choice if you need extra softness and some store brands such as Kroger, Shop-Rite, and Wal-Mart's "Great Value" are comparable value-specific picks.

Scott's has always been considered the "Gold Standard" for the bathroom, but its superiority has been challenged increasingly in recent years. If you still like this product, there is no reason to change. However if your needs now require a softer tissue, try "Scott's Extra Soft" or "Charmin Ultra".

I have recently noticed as have other reviewers, that the glued end of the paper roll that must be pulled apart in order to start the roll seems very hard to detach. This seems to be a new phenomenon and leads me to believe that things have changed at Scott and not for the better. Maybe it is just a fluke. Maybe it is no big deal. And maybe the Scott Bathroom tissue isn't quite as good as it used to be. Maybe it is rougher and coarser than before. Just maybe. In the meantime, however, I am NOW using "Charmin Ultra" after 40 years of continuous Scott patronage.

1.0 out of 5 stars Incredible Shrinking Rolls, December 7, 2010
This review is from: Scott Bath Tissue, White, 20-Count Packages (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
I never thought they'd do it, but Scott has resorted to the same cheap tactics as it's competitors. Now it's no longer a great deal on quality toilet paper. They're shrinking the widths of their rolls like the other brands have done. I told myself if Scott started doing this, I'd stop buying it. I'm gonna bring my measuring tape to the store to find a replacement.

1.0 out of 5 stars They made the rolls much much smaller now, November 15, 2010
This review is from: Scott Bath Tissue, White, 20-Count Packages (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
Due to the economy they have decided that cheating the customer was the way to go. I used scott bath tissue for years then I noticed the rolls were much smaller, much more narrow they were not fitting on the holder as well and we were going through many, many more rolls much faster than usual, so I called them and yes indeed they had the rolls smaller however the price is still through the roof for this product. They are saving money making smaller rolls we are paying the same amount yet getting smaller rolls. Not cool. So now I'm using a store brand 1,000 sheet roll (NORMAL SIZE) and I feel stupid for having EVER bought the name brand scott tissue for ALL those years.
