Book Description

Wisconsin government saw sweeping changes in 2011 when Scott Walker became Governor. The Progressive Tradition gave way to Republican control. After months of protests and several recall elections, the law can still change daily here depending on what a judge decides.

Scott Walker's Wisconsin gives you a little of the history of the man and a lot about his first year and a half in office. It covers the recall process and updates the progress made against expensive public unions in the state. Powerful big labor met its match. Wisconsin still leans to the right as the November 2012 presidential election looms.

Kilkenny creates a readable timeline of events in this book with her usual independent tone. Photographer Nick Schweitzer contributes memorable snapshots of the day of protests.

This is a pretty good read about Scott Walker and his rise to governor, and about the union controversy that took place once he was governor.

5.0 out of 5 stars A solid look at the 2012 Wisconsin recall election October 29, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Cindy Kilkenny lays out the Scott Walker's ascent to governor of Wisconsin and his challenges in keeping the office. Kilkenny has a tremendous amount of background information on Walker, from his birth and childhood, his days as a student at Marquette University, to his time as governor of Wisconsin.

As a regular reader of Kilkenny's blog, this book had much the same tone: solidly factual and peppered with snark, just like Kilkenny.

Well worth the read to either review the events of the 2012 Wisconsin recall election or to learn about it from somone who lived here.

Very well the reader an "inside look" at Scott Walker and his roots in Wisconsin.

Even if you don't like politics -- this is a book to be read if you have any interest at all in Wisconsin's recent history.
