4.0 out of 5 stars Great Item
This item was well worth the money, fast shipping the sword itself is great the case clasp broke a few days after receiving it. It doesn't affect it at all. All and all great sword, my sons happy and I would buy again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good sword, poor sheath, August 23, 2011
This review is from: Scottish Early Pattern Claymore Sword (Misc.)
I have had this sword for a number of years. BudK has always been a great seller for me with good prices and timely shipping. After ordering this sword, I received the sword in 10 days. The sword itself is pretty well made. The tang stands up to swinging and mild attacking, but i have not yet gone all out with it to see how it holds. The wooden grip is reasonable sturdy and smooth, but I sanded it a little more and added two coats of varnish/sealer.

Now the sheath... The sheath is made of cheap leather with cheap parts, but surprisingly only the very tip of it has started to come apart. The snaps to hold the sword in are pretty sturdy though maybe a little hard to open and close (better to hold the sword in). The shoulder strap is about 1/2 inch cheap leather connected to the sheath with two small, brass D-rings. Again, for how cheap the sheath looks, it has held up reasonably well.

Overall, I'd say this sword is a pretty good buy. I may get a new, stronger sheath in a few years, but, for the price, you can't go wrong here.

The seller is first rate. I had concerns with the timeliness which I would receive my order, but I got it within a couple of days. When I contacted them with my worries, they assured me they would ship within hours and there should be no problem. The sword itself seems correct, however, I mainly ordered it for the sheath as part of a Halloween costume. The sheath is VERY poorly made. The "leather" it is made from is more along the lines of flimsy cardboard. The strap is about 3/8" wide and broke under the weight of the sword itself the first time I picked it up. The snaps that hold the sword in the sheath are hard to fasten and do no hold well. The body of the sheath feels as though a few drops of water would dissolve it. It is EXTREMELY cheaply produced. I plan on returning this item and recommend you find another.
