5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Way Cool Fiddler
I just heard this fantastically cool album. I'm a Fiddler and I wish I could play like Bonnie Rideout. On the first track of this recording, Bonnie Rideout starts out with a really cool strathspey and she slowlly heats up into an awesome fast reel.

Like all of her previous albums, she kept me interested untill the very last track, which is always her best. On this...

2.0 out of 5 stars Cat's claws against a chalkboard
The first song is fantastic but some of the other songs grate on my nerves like a cat's claws against a chalkboard - in my mind the cd is worth buying just for the first song - it's incredible.

Like all of her previous albums, she kept me interested untill the very last track, which is always her best. On this album she ends with another solo fiddle track that I can't wait to learn.

If anyone is ever into THE REAL THING, they should get this CD......for sure!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Prolific recording artist who respects the tradition while keeping it fresh., July 19, 2007
This review is from: Scottish Fire (Audio CD)
An American musician who does the Scottish fiddle tradition proud -- Bonnie Rideout delivers. This album delivers the whole package -- the lyricism of Alasdair Fraser, the drive of Natalie MacMaster, and the eclecticism of Capercaillie (the more roots-oriented of their work) -- this is a great album.

I bought this cd for background music for my wedding reception. The wedding and reception was at a Scottish style Inn in North Carolina, and, after listening to the music samples, I thought it would be perfect. I liked it because not only is the woman extremely talented, but because it is engaging and unobtrusive, and it does not sound like your typical discount rack Celtic music. I listened to a lot of music, searching for just the right thing, and this was simply the best. This woman has real talent!

A collection of old personal favorites of Bonnie Rideout, showing a virtuoso range of moods and technique. The next best thing to hearing her in person.

Bonnie Rideout is outstanding and like her other works, "Scottish Fire" is absolutely breath-taking! For anyone interested in genuine Celtic music, this is the only choice.

Great movement in the music; enjoyable recording but would be better as a studio recording in lieu of a concert with player and audience ad hoc vocals.

This is a wonderful CD - a nice selection of traditional songs played beautifully by a consummate fiddler. It's a CD that I pick up again and again, whether to listen to attentively or to set the mood for a gathering of friends and family. This is a really enjoyable, playable CD always at the front of my "to play" box.
