This review is from: Scottish Highland Vol.08:Oban&Argyll [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Almost as if it is the work of an advanced amateur with professional equipment, this video has a homey, relaxed feel as it glides through the Oban & Argyll section of Western Scotland. The scenery is beautiful.
The format of this 1 hour long video is to present the scenes without voice over, just music playing and briefly the name appears. After going through, some of the sites are then revisited with narration about history and so forth: This was intentional so that you could watch it over and over without being distracted by narration, and that probably best describes the style: Relaxing. The video spends too much time on some places, and not enough on others, and at times almost seems corny, but overall it was worth it the price. I watched it several times before I went to Scotland, then gave it to my Scottish mother and she watches it.
The areas covered in this video are: Ardrishaig, Arduaine Garden, Auchindrain Township, Castle Stalker, Carnasserie Castle, Connel, Crinan, Dalmally, Dunadd Fort, Dunstaffnage Castle, Easdale Island, Ellanabeich, Inverary & Inveraray Jail, Kilchurn Castle, Kilmelford, Kilmichael, Kilninver, Loch Creran, Lochigilphead, Oban, Port Appin Sea Life Center, Seil Isalnd, St. Conan's Kirk, Tarbert, and Temple Wood.
