Good information on Orkney sites
While you'll still need to use the Internet to look up things that change frequently like current rates for hotels or bed & breakfasts, and admission rates to the sights, this book provides good information about things to see and do in Orkney. Good on sites, unreliable on practicalities
I bought this in my local bookstore and tried to use it to plan a weeklong trip to Orkney. Unfortunately, while it helped me decide where to go and what to see, it failed me once I tried to make concrete plans. Many of the B&Bs had changed hands and were no longer accepting guests and those that were had often TRIPLED their prices. Save your money and visit the...

I bought this in my local bookstore and tried to use it to plan a weeklong trip to Orkney. Unfortunately, while it helped me decide where to go and what to see, it failed me once I tried to make concrete plans. Save your money and visit the websites of VisitScotland and Historic Scotland which will do a better job on trip planning for free.

The information seems to be quite complete and is well presented. The book also has its lighter side. Good value for the visitor lucky enough to get to this part of Scotland.
