1.0 out of 5 stars Not for pipe fans
This was not what I wanted. The choral "oohs and ahhs" are distracting. This is an eazy listening musical experience that includes a bagpipe, not a pipping CD. They also took liberties with the melodies and timing of the songs. Not a CD for the lover of traditional Scottish pipes.

This review is from: Scottish Moods (Audio CD)
Having been born and bred in Scotland it has become second nature to recognise the quality and acurate tone achieved in David Methven's pipe playing. I found the CD very enjoyable to listen to and the tunes were very moving. Since the CD is titled, "The Lone Piper" in Scotland, I found the mood and atmosphere that was created reflects remarkably with David. (A personal friend of mine.) For anybody that is involed in piping or for anybody that enjoys the music- this CD is recommended. Fortunately, I have the opportunity to listen to his fine quality playing several times a week and every performance makes me proud to be Scottish! Best of luck David, and also to the Munroes!

5.0 out of 5 stars scottish moods, March 9, 2001

The world is divided (not equally) into two groups of people: Those who HATE bagpipe music, and those who APPRECIATE and LOVE it! If you are in the group who loves the music of the "pipes", you will enjoy this selection. This "unique" music belongs at funerals, weddings, anniversaries, wars and anything Scottish. However, after listening to the "pipes", you may want to go to war~~~even if there isn't one going on! (That's the only drawback!)How can anyone not be inspired by the glorious and sometimes melancholy music of the "pipes" and, like Sean Connery yearn for Scottish Independence?

5.0 out of 5 stars This is what I was looking for in bagpipe music, July 8, 2000
This review is from: Scottish Moods (Audio CD)
This is a beautiful CD. I love bagpipes for any duration of time but this one is especially beautiful. The Munros vocalization only add to the enjoyment. David Methven is a talented piper. The selections are wide ranging and are a good mix of the traditional pipe music as well as the newer "Flower of Scotland". I especially enjoyed "Highland Cathedral". I think Terry Wood says it all in his review. I was very pleased.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I was looking for!, June 3, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Scottish Moods (Audio CD)
This CD is an excellent choice for anyone who loves bagpipe music. I have purchased several other CD's hoping to get what this one offers. All the selections are good -- not boring at all for those of us who love to hear the pipes. The "dreamy synths, acoustic guitar, gentle, wordless choral passages" mentioned by Terry Wood are perfect accompaniments.

5.0 out of 5 stars beautiful bagpipe music!, October 22, 2001
By
This review is from: Scottish Moods (Audio CD)
If you love the bagpipe, you'll love this CD. The Highland Bagpipe is not exactly known for being the most relaxing and soothing instrument in the world, however, with the combination of guitar, voice, and other instruments, the music is indeed relaxing and beautiful. Try "Highland Cathedral" or Abide with Me".
