A good book - now seriously out-dated,

This rests an excellent basic book for those starting on their quest and has much good advice. It is also well written and easy to follow.
HOWEVER, it was written before most of the key Scottish documents (e.g. births, marriages, deaths, wills etc) became available for search on the internet. So it misses the new power of computer based research on these scottish document sites and advice on how best to do this. It also shows its pre-computer age in many other aspects. No longer a good buy - unless you don't use a computer . |
