5.0 out of 5 stars Soothing, Relaxing, and very well done.
If you like soft piano music, you'll love this CD. It is very well done. Being Scottish melodies, I expected more bagpipes, but they only show up on the last song. This CD is definitely a good buy. I listen to it every evening while I'm studying, or reading for pleasure.

2.0 out of 5 stars More Tranquil than Scottish
Though there was some nice piano music on this CD, I was very disappointed by its overall presentation. Two things I regret not doing before I purchased this CD was 1) not blowing up the picture of the CD to read the fine print under Scottish Tranquility that reads, "Piano and Orchestral Classics" and 2) not having a better computer so as to try out some of the...

I have a large number of CD's with Celtic tunes. All too often, they are similar to one another. Phil Coulter surprises with covers of Loch Lomond, Scotland the Brave, and Auld Lang Syne that are not like any I've heard before. In addition there are a dozen more new and familiar New Age style Celtic tunes. Scotland the Brave sounds just as majestic and is perhaps even more stirring to the soul presented Coulter's way, with bagpipes muted and in support of the lead piano.

5.0 out of 5 stars one of my favorites, September 23, 1999

I put this CD on the minute I step into the office in the morning. I like his renditions of many of my favorites that he has included on the CD. It is so relaxing. Great background music for a hectic office setting. And I feel transported back to that part of the world. Well done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh beautiful Scotland, April 20, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: SCOTTISH TRANQUILITY (Audio CD)
My husband and I joined a Trafalgar Tour of England and Scotland at the end of April 1996. The driver of our bus came from Glasgow and Pat, our tour guide, was simply marvellous. As we crossed the border into Scotland she played the tape of Scottish Tranquilty and this music went with us on our very short travels in Scotland - it was absolutely fantastic.

On our return to South Africa I walked into a music shop and found the CD straight away, seemed it was waiting for me. I play the disc over and over and each time it reminds me of that beautiful part of the world to which I would love to return. Even although it was freezing and snowing on the 1st of May the sight of the daffodils in Edinburgh and along the roadside, the rushing rivers and snowcapped mountains will be with me forever.

Thanks Phil Coulter for the fantastic music and thanks Scotland for the beautiful memories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Scottish Tranquility, March 25, 2001

This is not elevator or grocery store music! This IS serious music up there with Beethoven, Bach and Chopin. But more pleasant to listen to than most of their music. Phil Coulter has a way with the piano that any person that loves beautiful music yearns for. If you have any emotions you will get carried away in his music. His style is sort of New Age, but he keeps the old feeling of the tunes and pulls more out of them. I have 6 of his albums and love them all. I really can't rate them because they are all great.

I first heard this album while walking through a small shop in Sisters, Oregon, and was quite taken with Coulter's interpretation of these Scottish songs. When I want to relax, this is one of the first album's I think of.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD for Road Trips, August 26, 2005

This is probably our favorite CD to play when we're on the road. Wonderful arrangements of many familiar Scottish ballads. Whenever we come to a town with a Scottish name, we love to crank up the volume on "Scotland the Brave"!
