Grass grown from last year died! Not happy.,

This review is from: Scotts 17418 Turf Builder EZ Seed 10-Pound Bag (Lawn & Patio)
I must have spent close to eighty dollars last year, filling in bald spots on my lawn with this product. I watered religiously, and new thick grass sprouted after a few days, and the product worked (or so I thought). Fast forward to this year, and I am absolutely shocked to see that more than half of the EZ Seed grass that grew last year died! So I have many bald spots on my lawn once again. And I thought this 'premium' grass would be hardy and thrive. What a waste!

works in nj,
Used this product in shady area on a slope where the soil washes away leaving only the clay rich soil we have in northern nj. used the sprinkler on it's regular schedule and was impressed with lush growth in about a week, Only draw back is price. ace hardware online site has a good price for the 10lb bag. the 3,75 lb hardly covers anything. good to use for walking around and hitting bare thatch spots, but for any significant area get the 10 lb bag directly online for 30 bucks. amazon should lower their price to match ace. since ace is their vendor.
