Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Scotts 17563 Turf Builder Quality Tall Fescue Grass Seed Mix, 20-Pound (Lawn & Patio)
Product was shipped quickly but it is past its due date. I purchased this because Scotts is a good product and my neighbor had very goog results with this product. I had maybe 25% germination with this seed. Save your money and buy it from your local Lowes,Home depot or hardware store. Be sure to check the date on the bag. This is the third time in a year Amazon has sold me outdated product.

This review is from: Scotts 17563 Turf Builder Quality Tall Fescue Grass Seed Mix, 20-Pound (Lawn & Patio)
Over the past year, I have had terrible luck with Scott's seeds. Don't know if it is related to this new "coating" that they are putting on it to supposedly hold water or what -- but it just isn't germinating. Also, I haven't ask them this question, but is that coating safe for birds? I'd hate to think that they are gobbling up seed that's going to hurt them. After bad luck this this stuff (different bags at different times -- so it wasn't just one "bad lot") we gave up and bought some seed locally from a garden store. Within 5 days we had germination.... I have always trusted Scotts, but something is clearly wrong (at least in my case) with this new seed......
