Last year I used this product with limited success. This year I loosen the soil, apply organic fertilizer and a topper with the seed, I had grass growing in seven days. I like the thin blade and its heat resistant quality. The final product looks good to me.

You need to keep the ground moist or else the seed will die.

Thought this product was going to be revolutionary, but it was simply the worst grass seed I've ever planted! I compared two lawn areas, one with seed from a local nursery, and the Scott's brand in another. The Scott's brand barely grew, and the soil was kept moist with mixed in starter fertilizer. I agree with another reviewer that their covered seeds are a real problem.

Sorry, but I have officially left the Scott's brand of seed...what a shame that such a reputable company put out such a poor product.

I absolutely love this lawn seed. I seeded my yard and in 3 days I had grass popping up. I cannot believe how fast the grass grew and no weeds. Although it is winter here in Kihei, Maui the grass grew really tall requiring mowing within 3 weeks. I highly recommend this lawn seed. I also am very pleased with the rich color of the grass.

I used a bag of Scotts (Sun and Shade) and a left over bag of Pennington's. I used the Penningtons in one section of my lawn and the Scott's in a another. The Scotts was actually paired with Peat Moss as an added bonus. One week later the Pennington section is beautiful and the Scotts is sparse. 50% of the Scotts seed didn't even grow. Both sections were within 10 feet apart. Same sun/shade, drainage all things were equal. There is no reason the Scotts should of performed so poorly. It is definately an inferior product. I'm sticking with the Pennington line of products in the future. I am very dissapointed in Scotts.

Wouldn't recommend the seeds to anyone, followed all the instuctions and all I got was weeds on using the seeds. Wasted lot of money in buying the junk product.

I bought a large and expensive bad of this seed, and I kept it watered and moist. The result? Not a single shoot came up. Thanks Scotts. no more business for you.

My recommendation: do not buy Scott's new white stuff covered grass seeds.

I used to be an avid fan of any product Scott makes, including seeds, fertilizer, etc etc. I don't buy any other fertilizer right now other than Scott's. But they really messed up with this new white stuff covered seeds. Earlier this Spring I spent > $300 on these new seeds and $250 to rent a slice seeder and not a single grass came out. Note that i have slice seeded before with Scott's and the same method and had no problem. I had a tough time figuring out why the grass never came up and through the process of elimination I have determined it is definitely the new grass seeds that Scott has introduced recently. For example, as soon as I changed to Vigoro seeds and that too in the middle of the summer in small patches that needed repair, the grass came out immediately.

I have no idea what Scott's is doing with their new grass seed, but it definitely doesn't work and I will from now on stay away from Scott's grass seeds. Their fertilizer still seems to work & I will continue with their fertilizer program.

Btw, I am not the only one having problems. I have heard similar reports from couple of friends of mine.

The seed coating is white which is very good to see how homogeneous and how much you spread them. These seeds came out nicely. However, Amazon charged more than the local stores, like Walmart and Lowe's.

I followed the instructions on the bag 100% with no good result. Scotts brand products cost more over the others but it does not work. Don't waste your money on this seed. I did a lot of work to prepare the soil to get it ready for the seeds and not to have any seeds grow was a big disappointment.
