5.0 out of 5 stars Should keep dark-green and beautiful all year...
I first tried this perennial ryegrass mix on my backyard last fall with tremendous success. Here in Hampton Roads, we had quite an Indian summer last year and a fitful winter to boot. 5.0 out of 5 stars Should keep dark-green and beautiful all year..., May 9, 2011

I first tried this perennial ryegrass mix on my backyard last fall with tremendous success. Here in Hampton Roads, we had quite an Indian summer last year and a fitful winter to boot. BUT, my backyard still managed to grow despite the persistent heat late in the fall and thrived despite all the snow and frigid temps we experienced; it stayed green the entire winter. More recently, I completely cleared my front lawn and used only this mix for seeding. Specifically, it was three weeks ago that I seeded and then overseeded this past week. Already, 5 neighbors have stopped and asked what I'm using to make that beautiful grass come up so quickly. Compliments galore!!

For starters, this grass is super easy to put down. I make sure that it gets covered at least 1/8" to 1/4" of sphagnum peat moss, compost, manure, topsoil or a mixture of any or all of these. I get much better/faster results with seed-sprouting/growth rates when I do a combination, though the general idea is to just make sure the seeds aren't exposed. Make sure to water frequently (every day to every other day - not too too heavily) until mowing height (about 2-3 in.), then cut back to twice a week once it starts getting mowed.

If you're starting from bare dirt, it's ok to seed generously. This grass comes up very VERY quickly - within 3-7 days. When the grass begins coming up and I can determine any bare spots, I go right back over with the spreader or by hand tossing seeds and repeat the aforementioned top-fill procedure. It's that simple.

I have yet to experience any problems with disease or insects, but I won't say it's not susceptible. I know lots of golf courses in the area use it on their fairways (for good reason - its durability). The bottom line is that this grass is THE VERY BEST GRASS I can think to recommend to anyone; it's just awesome! Try it for yourself, and I trust you'll SEE exactly what I mean.

This is by far the worst product I have ever purchase. I followed directions step by step and the seed soesn't even sink into the dirt....it has been 4 days and the seeds are sitting on top of the entire grss area. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODCUT.
