I over-sowed my front yard which had Penn-Blue variety of Bluegrass. The sod company that I origionally bought my sod/seed from wanted $35 plus delivery for a 3 lb bag of seed. They told me that their variety was unique and other seeds wouldn't match.
I decided to take a chance because it was getting so expensive to do this every year.
I had a very high germination rate and the yard has very dense growth 3 weeks later. The grass matches perfectly.
These seeds are coated with a substance that holds moisture to promote growth. It appears to work very well.

I followed the directions for use exactly; I dethatched my lawn, set the spreader to the correct setting for the size of my lawn, used a little extra on the bald spots, and watered the lawn deeply every day for the next three weeks. Not a single blade of grass has emerged. I double checked the expiry date on the bag just to be sure that the seed I was sent was still in date. It was. It just failed completely to germinate. What a waste of time, money and effort!

I used this product on my grass and made sure that it received adequate water. so far not much grass has filled in the spaces where the grass was gone.

Stay away from Scott's new white grass seeds
My recommendation: do not buy Scott's new white stuff covered grass seeds.
