Best in the Deep South,

Just as with Kentucky bluegrass, zoysia, and fescue, there are a number of different cultivars (types) of bermudagrass. The one in this product is called "Sunbird." Sunbird is a good cultivar, with excellent green color and disease resistance, but it's not one of the more winter-hearty types. If you live north of South Carolina it's going to be brown about 9 months a year and could have a little trouble surviving the winter. For bermudagrass that is going to be planted in the northern part of the warm season grass zone, you would be better off using one of the more northern-adapted cultivars like Yukon. At the time of this writing, I did not see Yukon being offered on Amazon, but it does show up from time to time, and it should be available at your local hardware store/seed supplier if you live in one of the more northern parts of the warm season grass zone. It should work a little better for you.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Scotts 18253 Turf Builder Bermuda Grass Seed 5-Pound Bag (Lawn & Patio)
I read through some of the reviews prior to buying this product. A few stated "the grass didn't sprout." I figured that these people didn't know what they were doing, so I went and purchased this product anyways. Now, 20 days after I planted the seed, it has not sprouted. I have planted many types of grass seed, and have grown Bermuda grass before. If I buy grass seed, I want it to sprout. Additionally, this product is supposed to have a protective covering that is supposed to ensure sprouting. Finally, due to this protective covering, the bag of seed is only half seed - the rest of the weight is the protective coating. I am going to try to contact someone to see if I can get a refund or exchange. I am quite disappointed in the time, water, and effort I have wasted in trying to grow this grass.

I like in DFW are and spread the seed 2 weeks back. I have the same result as the other reviewer. Not a single seed has sprouted even though I have been watering my lawn 3 times a day.
