Very well made, worked great.

The spreader works great the rubber wheels although small make it a lot easier to push, and the edge guard works well to keep unwanted seeding of flower beds.

I found that there is a different “chute” to release the material from the hopper and even this plastic chute will bind up.

I recently purchased this spreader and have been very impressed so far. I overseeded and fertilized my lawn (about 1/3 of an acre). There are parts of my lawn that are very uneven and the large rubber wheels kept the spreader very stable. The edge guard also works very well with no excess product dispensed to the side. A separate rear guard is always in place to keep you from getting fertilizer on your shoes. The controls are easy to use and seem high quality. I plan to start a regular reseeding and fertilizing program for my lawn so this spreader will get lots of use. Hopefully it holds up!

The adjustable slide failed to close halfway through fertilizing my lawn. Removed remaining fertilizer in the hopper and discovered material had gotten wedged along each side of the adjustable slide. After I removed the wedged material, I could see there was a gap on each side of the slide that would allow material to become trapped. I refilled the hopper and tried it again, but it failed just as before.
Save your money and purchase a different brand. This one is junk.

This review is for BOTH “Scotts” model “76565 Classic Drop Spreader” AND “Scotts” model “75901 Pro Edge Guard”. Both models are complete “junk” in my opinion. I am an old man (63 years), I do NOT walk fast nor do I abuse my things. As a matter of fact, I tend to be quite anal about taking care of my stuff. I only have a small lawn of about 10,000 square feet here in North Carolina that I used to like taking care of.

After my 17 year old METAL drop spreader finally rusted out in the fall of 2012, I had to purchase a new spreader. I was skeptical of “plastic” spreaders but they seem to be the only ones available now for a residential home owner. Well, maybe it won’t rust out like my 17 year old spreader did.

I purchased a model “76565 Classic Drop Spreader” for $49.99 in the fall of 2012 to spread some “Scotts Winterizer and Weed Control” fertilizer. The spreader wheels are very flimsy plastic and did not always want to turn on grass. It made NO difference if the hopper was full or “light”, the drive wheel would often stop turning. If you are not paying close attention, this causes “voids” of fertilizer in the lawn. Also, the trigger for releasing the product did bind up several times and cause some “dumps” of too much fertilizer that burned my grass. Oh, well, maybe I’m just expecting too much and need to get used to this new spreader.

In the spring of 2013, I got this same spreader out to spread “Scotts” fertilizer for the spring of this year. While using this spreader for only the second time, the spindle in the hopper stopped turning via the drive wheel during my first pass. I inspected the device and found the plastic drive for the spindle had sheared off and broke and there was no repair. This “new “spreader is now defective after only one use.

This spreader is well constructed and heavy duty. The "edge guard" spreading feature works very well along sidewalks and lot-lines. The pneumatic tires work very well on all turf surfaces. Controls are easy to use and very functional. Minimal assembly required, ready to use in 5 minutes! This unit holds a full 15,000 sqaure foot bag of Scott's product and spreads efficiently and evenly. I have not encountered any problems in the several months that I have owned this product. Amazon's price beat any local retailer by better than $20! Good investment for my "yard gear".

Works great. I chose this product for the rubber wheels. Most of the spreaders I looked at had cheap plastic wheels. Very happy with the spreader. Worth paying a little more to get a better spreader.

I read the reviews posted by others on Scotts broadcast spreaders and I find this model with the pneumatic tires to work well in wet and dry conditions. I real improvement over plastic wheels.

I bought this spreader on July 5, 2013. I have always used a drop spreader so I didn't know what to expect from this new spreader. It came in the box fully assembled. Today, July 15, 2013, was the first time I used it. The edge guard worked perfectly, it was very easy to push, and I made one small adjustment to the flow meter. I would "highly recomend" this spreader to anyone because it it by far the "very best" spreader I have ever used. The main reason I purchased this spreader from Amazon.com was because it had "zero" shipping charges. I don't know if it was because of a fourth of July sale or what but it was free just the same. There was one company that was charging almost $120.00 in just the shipping charges alone. I would rate this spreader at 10+ if I could!!!

This spreader works well w/ very fine or small size particles fertilizers or products. However, w/ products that have larger pieces, fertilizers that degrade over a period of time, the "door" that lets the product out will not close because the product jams the door. Having said this I did find that Scotts will refund my $$.
