A GREAT IDEA!,

This review is from: Scotty Anchor Lock with 241 Side Deck Mount (Sports)
Recently purchased two Scotty Anchor Locks for my fishing boat for use on inland waters. I wanted a quick and easy waY to deploy my tri-fluted river anchors off the bow and stern to quickly position boat for crappie fishing, etc. I also wanted to be able to quickly remove both anchors and replace with my Lake Erie anchor through a different lock system on bow when I head out on the Big Lake. The anchor locks did exactly what I wanted...they deploy quickly, lock securely, and when I want to change anchors, I just pop the lock out of the mount and leave it on the anchor ropes and store whole system in a bucket. Deck mounts are solid and the whole unit appears that it should hold up well. At this point I am completely satisfied with my purchase as these locks have solved a problem situation in a convenient and relatively inexpensive manner. I would highly recommend this product!

Ok for a drop anchor but not for a drag anchor.,

I bought it to go on the back of my kayak to have a drag anchor to slow me down current. This would work well for a drop anchor but if you have the rope out behind you it does not feed very well through it. I like the concept and will probably modify it to work for me. It is advertised to work with 1/2 rope but it is almost a little tight going through the lock eyelet. I have bought 3/8 rope instead and it works a little better.
