5.0 out of 5 stars Great rod holder, January 9, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I use this and the fly rod versions on my kayak and both are great. You can use it to troll while floating down the river or just to keep your rod securely out of the way. I've even gone out in the surf at the coast and gotten flipped over and my rod stayed in. The deck mount like this sticks up more than the flush mount, but requires a smaller hole than the flush mount.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy and easy to mount., September 9, 2011

There isn't much I can say about this. It just works. I am just using it with spinning rods so keep in mind that the reel doesn't sit upright instead it hangs out the front but there is a 1" deep notch that cradles the spinning reel arm. It looks loose, it feels loose but the rod doesn't budge when anything tugs on the line.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Holder!, April 16, 2010

This review is from: Scotty Baitcaster/ Spinning Rod Holder with 241 Side Deck Mount (Sports)
The item itself is very good, excelent materials amazing construction, adjustments are easy and the fact that the base can be mounted on the side or deck is amazing, the only issue I had was that the item description does not include the sizes (specially for the base), in my case I wanted to install this on a small 8 foot boat which has a 1 1/2" rail all arround the top of the boat, weel the base holes for the screws are 1 3/8" and inches apart which makes the screws barelly fit on the borders of the rails and the overall size of the base is 2" x 4" which requiered a little fitting in my case.

this is not at all an issue with the product itself, but would be nice if the product page included this sizes.

the product itself is a 100+

5.0 out of 5 stars fits perfectly, March 12, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I own a 17ft Lund with side rails that include a channel to attach brackets to easily move items up and down the side of the boat. I mounted two of these to the brackets and they work great. They look as if they were made for the boat. This allows me to place them anywhere on the side of the boat with ease.
The base can be mounted on the top or side of anything. You just need to make sure that there is enough room on the bottom side of the holder for the end of the rod to stick out without hitting something.
It is easy to adjust the vertical angle and rotate the holder. They are also easy to remove from the base and store out of the way when not needed.
