Installed this fly rod holder to keep my G. Loomis safe and secure on a 14' Liquid Logic Stingray sit-in kayak. Installed easily, looks nice and very well constructed. My only concern is that the rod is secured by a soft rubber strap that streches into place and prevents the rod from slipping out. If that strap is lost or broken, the rod holder will no longer function properly. Has not been a problem so far but simply a concern. Mounted on a kayak, the rod holder allows you to troll with your fly rod which, in the seatrout rich waters of Apalachee Bay in Florida, can be very effective.

I just bought my second Scotty Fly Rod Holder with the 241 side deck mount. These work great, and make it so much easier to fish when i am alone in the boat. I have had no problems with the fly rod holder, everything has worked and functioned properly. Definitely happy with this product. The 241 side deck mount enables you to install the deck mount in 2 different possible positions.
Another reviewer was incorrectly concerned that the rubber part of the rod holder could break and then the rod holder would not work. This is not the case at all, the rubber part of the rod holder is only there for transporting the rod in an upright positions while in the boat. The rubber part does not have anything to do with the fly rod holder while it is in use. This is explained in the instructions that came with the product. I have used this fly rod holder several times and have not had any use for the rubber part as it is only for transportation of the rod while in the boat.

I recently purchased a Native 12 kayak and it came with two bait cast reel holders??? ... so I purchased the fly rod holder ... works great, easy to use and keeps my fly rod handy and behind me when I'm paddling. Nice product. I did not need the mount since my kayak already has several but you can't buy the holder without it.

I had one of these years ago on a personal pontoon to hold a fly-rod. I got a new pontoon and tried another product with poor results and went back to this. Easy to install, easy to use.
