Not Using It As A Rod Holder,

I purchased these rod holders to mount homemade outriggers to my canoe for still fishing. A canoe is much less stable when iot's not moving throught the water. For my purpose they work very well, sturdy, adjustable and easy to pull the outriggers up out of the water when trolling or paddling. As a rod holder I am sure they would also be great for the very same reasons. In my canoe however, I'm using Scotty's Bait Caster / Sinning Rod Holder. I like the padded cradle for a bait casting or trolling reel and the slot in the front for a spinning reel, but especially the rubber strap to hold them in place so when I hook a wopper while paddling I don't take the risk of watching it all go overboard before I can drop paddle and catch it. In my opinion you can't go wrong with Scotty products.

I like the tube style rod holders on my kayak because they are mounted behind me. trying with a standard cradle type holder to get your pole out when a fish is on is almost impossible. These work great and now I have the rod holder extensions which make these holders even more user friendly. Nice to have something you can get extra options for.
