We take this Scrabble Folio Edition with us when traveling, and we absolutely love it. This set comes in a zippered case (the "folio," I assume) with tile racks, plastic letter tiles in a small drawstring bag, folding game board, score sheet notepad, pencil, and basic directions, which include the essential two-letter word list. The board is made of clear plastic with a raised grid (like 3D graph paper) into which you snap the letter tiles. As you would expect, the board is laid out exactly the same as standard Scrabble; it also has the same quantity and variety of letter tiles. The board is attached to the folio along the spine, so it doesn't pivot; but it's easy enough to rotate or pass around the folio so that each player can have their round. The folio feels like it has a cardboard or paperboard base (it's stiff but also slightly flexible) and is covered in a durable poly/nylon fabric.

Great things about this set:
- Zipped shut, the folio takes up about as much room as a hardback book. It will fit in your carry-on bag or in a medium/large purse. The case is durable and perfect for traveling. And because the fabric is black, it won't show scuffs.
- The tiles snap securely onto the board, so your game won't be ruined by bumps, jarring, potholes, or turbulence.
- If you need to stop mid-game and resume later, the board folds in a way that keeps the tiles in place and the game intact.
- The tile racks have snap-on covers that maintain privacy in the event of a mid-game pause.
- The tile racks store in secure slots on the underside of the board.
- The letters are printed clearly on the tiles and are easy to read.

Downsides to this set:
- There's no room in the folio for a dictionary. But this is becoming less of an issue with the abundance of phones, iPods, PSPs, etc. that can access the internet (just download the Scrabble dictionary app!).
- The letter tiles are pretty tiny, like 1 square cm each.
- You can't shuffle your tiles on the rack.
- Sometimes if you're putting a word down, the surrounding tiles can "fly off" if not already snapped in securely.
- Getting the tiles off the board is kind of a pain. You have to un-snap every single one of them, so it takes a few minutes to clear the board.

However, these downsides are pretty minor, and they certainly don't take away from a great game. Compared to the new Scrabble Diamond Edition in the hard plastic case, this set is much more compact. (The Diamond Edition would be for those enthusiasts who want full-size letter tiles with a full-size game board that rotates 360°. It's larger than a laptop, though, and probably won't fit in your carry-on.) I would highly recommend this Folio Edition to anyone who loves Scrabble and/or wants to play a fun game on the go.

Wonderful way to feed your Scrabble addiction! Take along Scrabble is smartly designed--all pieces fit together in a nice, tidy package. The tiles rest snugly on the board and it's great the way everything folds up and the game remains in play. Looking forward to taking it on vacation!

Very impressed with the material and the reasonable compactness/lightness of the whole package. Although the tiles are a tad small, but not uncomfortable to use. The grid has ridges to lock the tiles in, so when you are on the go, you can pack the game and resume when you are at your next stop! My sibblings and me love this game and now we can play whenever we get together and that could be anywhere in the world. Family who play together stay together: so we love the game and couldnt be more pleased with the quality: durable.

Obviously, it is not like the quality of the board game: but playing scrabble as a fmaily evokes a lot of wonderful memories. keep the game going and keep the memories coming.

I bought this scrabble game to take on trips with my family. I have taken it on flights as well as car trips. It is perfect for both the plane and the car. The game is very small and folds up with a zipper to close the game itself up. The zipper is nice for storage because then the letters will not be lost if they come out of the pouch. Travel Scrabble is small enough to fit in your carry on bag in the plane so that you can easily get it out when you need it. Another nice thing about it is if you don't finish a game you can fold the board and zipper it up with the tiles still in place. Then you can resume your game later right where you left off.

The only problems I had was that the letters are fairly small and some of the letters would pop out of the board randomly. The tiles are small but once you play a few times you get used to handling them. I would be playing a game with my brother and all of the sudden a letter that had been clicked into the board for a while would pop out and fall on the floor of the plane or car. This was very inconvenient to find the pieces because there is not much room to move in a plane or car. However, this problem only occurred a few times and I noticed it was with the same pieces. Other than these minor problems I have no other complaints about Travel Scrabble.

Overall this game was a great investment for me at a reasonable price. I have gotten plenty of use out of it to pay for itself. It is great to have for trips because it makes the time go faster and after a few games you are almost at your destination!

MY WIFE & I PURCHASED THIS PRODUCT TO TAKE WITH US ON A 2 WEEK CRUISE. THE SET WAS SMALL ENOUGH TO PACK WITHOUT TAKING MUCH SPACE IN THE SUITCASE. STURDY ENOUGH TO UNPACK IN PERFECT CONDITION AFTER A PLANE RIDE IN THE LUGGAGE DEPARTMENT. THE TILES WERE A LITTLE SMALL, BUT AFTER GETTING USED TO HANDLING THEM THE SET WORKED FINE.

I got this for play at home with my 7 year old. we like the option of folding it up and putting it away in the middle of a game, resuming later. it would be better if there was space in the case to store a scrabble dictionary as well.

If you like Scrabble you'll like this product. Now if they would come up with mini electronic dictionary to go along with it.

This seems to be a good board, but what I didn't expect was the tiles to be so small. They are tiny, and if they are on their little holder it's almost impossible to shuffle them, so instead I just used the table instead. The letters stay on the board easily, but after the game it's difficult to get them off, and they need to be pried off one by one. Unless you are traveling or somewhere else space is at a premium, the board and tiles are too small for practical use. In those circumstances however, it is a great game board.

I bought this after playing it with some friends. It's great for traveling, waiting in long lines for movies or sales...for playing anywhere, especially since the letters snap on. The only drawback is that it is so much tinier than standard scrabble games. Overall a great investment for a fun time!

Dont get me wrong, I love a friendly game of Scrabble, this game, not so friendly. I don't think the person who made this actually tested it out, the pieces pop out of the board and some don't even fit. I tried to play this at home and it was difficult, I don't think it would stand up to being played while traveling.
