Play is speedy and satisfying; the sounds of the tiles clicking on the board are alarmingly realistic. You can challenge words, be challenged yourself, or find definitions of words you don't know in the online Official Scrabble Dictionary. (You can even receive hints and suggestions from the "Maven.")
Online multiplayer is in full force, too. Play with bored students in Oxford using the network features; though this slows the game down depending on your Internet connection rate, you'll find you need more time to crush your human challengers anyway. Sharpen your skills with the minigames: find two- or three-letter words, do anagrams, or find the best play with a given setup. Even if you're a regular Scrabble player, you should find yourself returning to your computer time and again, either to brush up or to try again against the champion. --Rob Lightner

Haven't had a person around to play Scrabble with in years and miss having a GOOD game. You can set the levels from Novice to Tournament or anything in between with the Custom feature. The online dictionary is handy (even though technically it shouldn't be used during play). You can hit a button to "define last" when the computer plays a word you're not familiar with. Other features include a list of "q" words without "u" and online help you can use based on the letters on your rack. I never use this because it's like cheating. I'm enjoying it very much and got one for my mother as well. Haven't gone to play on Internet yet but may pursue that as well.

If You Love Scrabble...,

I am one of those Scrabble players that wants to keep playing and playing, even when my fellow human players are sick of it. That's where a computer player comes in. I've played five or six games in a row against the computer. The game is much improved from the first version, with cleaner graphics and better playing levels. Also, you can choose to play against as many as three computer players. I've found that playing this game has really helped me improve my Scrabble strategies, and my scores have increased steadily. One feature I really like about this game is the statistics it keeps. You can see your Scrabble rating, and compare that with the official Scrabble levels. The game keeps other statistics, such as your number of wins, winning percentage, highest game, highest single play, and it breaks down your statistics according to one-person, two-person, three-person, or four-person games, as well as tournaments (timed matches).

Scrabble 2 makes the first version look prehistoric in comparison. The new version has sound effects, selection of jazz tunes, animated Maven (computer opponent and Judge), optional board styles, a dictionary and suggestion lists. I never wanted to play the original board game but now I do and its a lot of fun. Great game for kids and adults. You will definitely learn some new words. Scrabble is finally fun! Definitely get this one, dont make the mistake of buying the first version, unless you still have Windows 95. It is slow and you must change color displays if you have 98. If your into word games, you must own this!
