5.0 out of 5 stars WE LOVE THIS BOOK!
My kids Andy (6) and Katherine (4) absolutely love this book and all of Laurie Keller's books...especially Scrambled States of America and Open Wide! They both have learned all the states and think this book is so funny. There is also a card game that goes along with the book that we play several times a day. 3.0 out of 5 stars ok - not as good as the first
My kid liked this book just fine and it was ok. It is not as nearly as funny or inventive as the first. Check out Arnie the Doughnut instead if you like Laurie Keller.

5.0 out of 5 stars WE LOVE THIS BOOK!, September 7, 2008
This review is from: The Scrambled States of America Talent Show (Hardcover)
My kids Andy (6) and Katherine (4) absolutely love this book and all of Laurie Keller's books...especially Scrambled States of America and Open Wide! They both have learned all the states and think this book is so funny. There is also a card game that goes along with the book that we play several times a day. They know which states border Canada and Mexico, which states touch the Atlantic Ocean and which touch the Pacific, and they even know how many states border Kansas, Tennessee, Utah, etc. What a wonderful way for kids this young to learn about the country! I think these books and card game make a GREAT educational birthday gift!

5.0 out of 5 stars another visit with some of our favorite characters, May 5, 2009

Laurie Keller is a genius.
It is not always evident to parents how funny her books will be for kids but my son goes back to them over and over. We've been reading them since about the age of 4 but he really got into them after we saw The Scrambled States of America on DVD. The characters came alive and it changed the book for him until he got old enough to work through it on his own.
The characters are endearing. My son is now 8 and he completely cracks up because he remembers what they did in the last book and how it ties in to the Talent Show book. He loves all the silly speech bubbles scattered throughout. Honestly, he laughs out loud when reading Laurie Keller books.
We also have Do Unto Otters, Open Wide School Tooth Inside, and Arnie the Doughnut which are hits as well. (The Tooth book you can actually use as a diary of when your kid loses their teeth...it's not meant for that but there is a diagram of all the teeth inside the front cover and we just wrote dates next to each tooth.)

A few years ago I ordered this book after my granddaughter, then age 6 or so, found it in the library. It was such a hit that I felt we just had to purchase it. It remains a delight to her and is a fun read for the adults helping too. Helps them to learn the individual states and what they grow and are known for and does it in a most unpainful way! Would recommend!

My kids love this book, and would check it out every time we saw it at the library. We moved and now will be able to enjoy an old favorite. A fun way to learn geography and a little more about our country. They can recognize the shape of states we have never been to, just because of these books!

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun way to learn, March 6, 2010
By
This review is from: The Scrambled States of America Talent Show (Hardcover)
We orginally got this book out of the library. My granddaughter just loved it and we read it many times. Of course we had to take it back and over the weeks she would look for it again but it was mostly always checked out. Finally for her 6th birthday I just ordered it for her and she was so pleased. The author has a way of making the states "come alive" and memorable. She fell in love with New Jersey! I am quite sure that any child of reasonable age will fall in love with the fun of it all.

The Scrambled States of America was a BIG hit. The Talent Show will be also. It is a very cute book and keeps the reader, young and old interested to see what all the states have to say. I bought both books for our granddaughter and also for our daughter, the teacher, for her classroom.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Scrambled States of America Talent Show, October 14, 2008
This review is from: The Scrambled States of America Talent Show (Hardcover)
Boy can these guys tell bad but funny jokes. The states are in fine form getting together to put on a talent show for each other. If they can keep a straight face. Everyone seems pretty happy and the talent show is a wonderful book.

My three year old is smitten with geography and the United States. She absolutely loves these two books. She reads them over and over and over. They go with her everywhere. You can expect to find her curled up somewhere reading it at some point every day.

It's a very cute book. Clever for both kids and adults.

My children got acquainted with author Laurie Keller through The Scrambled States of America Game and book, of same title. She has made geography fun for all of my children, even the one year old!
