5.0 out of 5 stars CAPTAIN & TENNILLES "BEST" COMPILATION OF SONGS!, July 25, 2000
By
This review is from: Scrap Book (Audio CD)
This is the best compilation of Captain & Tennille songs. Forget the greatest hits collection, this album spans their entire pop career up to the end with their Casablanca albums "Make Your Move" which spawned the No. 1 hit "Do That To Me One More Time" and the Top 50 hit remake of "Happy Together".

Whats missing is that sappy song I could not stand "Muskrat Love" which makes this compilation top notch!

Other songs include "Lonely Night" and the hook central "Love On A Shoestring".

Tennilles voice is beautiful and it shows on ballads "The Way I Want To Touch You" #3 on billboard, and "Do That To Me One More Time" #1 on billboard, and sounds sultry as ever on "You Never Done It Like That" #10 on billboard, and "You Need A Woman Tonight" #40 on billboard.

A definite buy for the collection worthy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Captain & Tennille's Finest, May 24, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Scrap Book (Audio CD)
This is without a doubt THE finest collection of Captain & Tennille's hits and near hits ever assembled on compact disc! Especially noteworthy are the Casablanca cuts from the "Make Your Move" and "Keeping Our Love Warm" albums. This is THE ONE cd I keep turning back to over and over again for pure C&T listening enjoyment! The only "single" cut missing from Casablanca is "This Is Not The First Time." When stranded on a desert island with only one cd, THIS is the one must-have!

5.0 out of 5 stars THE FIRST HALF OF AS GOOD AS IT GETS, October 3, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Scrap Book (Audio CD)
"Scrapbook" is the first half of the best C&T collection possible on CD given that none of their original albums (except "Love Will Keep Us Together") exists on CD. All 6 of their A&M and Casablanca albums are represented here; however there are some GAPING holes in this collection, such as the omission of their achingly delicious renditions of "Come In From The Rain", "Dream" and "Easy Evil". (OK--"Muskrat Love" is missing, too. At least you can ENJOY that omission--although I even miss their little pitter-pattering feet at the end!) Nevertheless, this is hands-down the best and most comprehensive collection of their work on Casablanca (more than half of their "Make Your Move" album is represented here along with the title song from "Keeping Our Love Warm" and that album's "Until You Come Back To Me" [which I could have done without]) along with some major A&M stuff as well. Combine this with their "Best of Captain & Tennille" CD (at Collector's Choice Music), which features loads of their A&M cuts, including their aforementioned omissions, and you've got just about the best of C&T you can get right now on CD. Let's hope the industry wakes up and issues all 6 albums (or at least the two best--"Song of Joy" and "Make Your Move") soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars no scraps here!, April 16, 2001
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Scrap Book (Audio CD)
This collection spans their seventies and thankfully their 80's hits. Great to see the casablanca years chronicled on cd. Say what you may but these songs are either classic pop or lost treasures.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost All Their Best..., June 12, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Scrap Book (Audio CD)
I basically agree with all the other reviews on this album. It's nice to have this collection available because it includes some songs that would otherwise be unavailable, seeing as how all but the first album from The Captain & Tenille are out of print and most likely will never be issued on CD. The only disappointing aspect of this album is that it doesn't include "Muskrat Love", one of their biggest hits and a definite fan favorite. I don't understand why that song was excluded over songs that weren't even hits. For a complete collection of their hits, get "The Ultimate Collection". But if you want some rare Captain & Tenille, this CD, as well as "Digitally Remastered Best", are sure to please. (At least until their original albums are released on CD!).

Remastered so well, these songs jump out with such clarity! I have always wanted the Casablanca recordngs on CD. "Happy Together" is a dance floor gem! This duo was a class act all the way!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect, April 5, 2001
By
"vtboy64" (New Hampshire United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Scrap Book (Audio CD)
This cd includes all the big Captain & Tennille hits. It is superior to the "Greatest Hits" cd because it includes post-1977 hits NOT included on the first hits collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ultimate Collection Is Better In My Opinion, January 28, 2004

If you only want one CD from Captain & Tennille, then get the "Ultimate Collection: The Complete Hits". If you can't stand "Muskrat Love", then this is a better option.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply...the BEST!, April 2, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Scrap Book (Audio CD)
This is a great collection and contains many gems not found on Captain & Tennille's "Greatest Hits". For example, there are many songs contained here that are from the late 1970s and early 1980s that were not released by the time "Greatest Hits" appeared. Songs include: "Do That To Me One More Time", "Happy Together (A Fantasy)", "Love On A Shoestring", "Baby You Still Got It", "Keepin' Our Love Warm", and "Until You Come Back To Me." Do not miss out on this collection; you will not be disappointed. Captain & Tennille fans will find near perfection and ecstasy in this disc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Take Me Back To My Youth, April 21, 2002

Curtis M. Plumb (McKeesport, PA United States) - See all my reviews

I love modern music. I think Nelly reeks of talant. I turn up the radio when N'Sync or BSB comes on. I love Madonna and Gwen Stefani draws me into the radio or television. However, nothing can touch me like an album from the seventies. I did my 2's through 12's in the seventies, so bubblegum AM music will be forever engrained into my psyche. Scrapbook, by Captain & Tennille epitomizes all that was good about that decade. Barry Williams may have been doing Maureen McCormick and dating Florence Henderson, but to me they will always be the family that represented the end of an era in this country and the same can be said for the Captain & Tennille. Sexy, Catchy, and even Soulful all combined with a lost innocence.
