Out of ideas? GET THIS BOOK!, September 15, 2009
This review is from: The Scrapbook Embellishment Handbook (Hardcover-spiral)
Most of my scrap space is devoted to bits of "this" and pieces of "that". And sometimes I want to use the products in new ways...
enter in this book!
I have several craft and scrapping books, but this is the best one I have seen in a long time. I love that it's hardcover and LOVE that it has spiral bound pages so it lays flat!
I found new ideas from the first page!
The book is divided into sections based on embellishment types so it's a total reference you can turn to when you are looking for specific ideas for what you are creating with.
Each section is subdivided so you can try a new technique or idea when you want to simply create, kick it up a notch or if you are looking for something out of the box.
Every idea and technique has a layout where it has been used, with descriptions on how to achieve the look and detailed shots of the process when needed.
There is even a digital section.
I would definitely recommend this book if you:
1. like to scrap
2. like to craft in general
3. like good, well written and photographed craft/scrap books
4. like trying new techniques
5. need some new ideas
So if you said yes to any or all of the above I really do no think you would be disappointed adding this book to your scrapping references! You'll turn to it over and over :)

Very Impressed!!, September 14, 2009
This review is from: The Scrapbook Embellishment Handbook (Hardcover-spiral)
I recently won this fabulous book by Sherry Stevenson. Honestly, I would have purchased it anyway!! Since we are being honest here, I have to say I was skeptical that I would actually learn anything. I purchase scrap books and magazines to be inspired by the lo's, not so much by the techniques. As far as techniques go (other than mixed media), I thought I was pretty abreast of them all. How WRONG could I be. Seriously, in the first couple of pages I was seeing things that I had never thought of trying. Believe me, I have other scrappers tell how creative I am in ideas.
Not that I am an old dog when it comes to scrapping because I've only been scrapping about 2 1/2 years now. However, I am a sponge and have soaked up everything I thought I possibly could. Again, WRONG!! This book actually surprised me. Yes, the work is fabulous - as I expected. Still I didn't expect to be wowed by new ideas.
In this book Sherry and the other artists take your normal, even hum-drum scrap supplies and make them extraordinary. Is it possible? Yes, that brad, button, chipboard... can be something very special! I can't wait to try some of these cool ideas. I almost feel guilty like I would be stealing, but hey, that's why Sherry wrote the book!!

Must have, September 17, 2009
This review is from: The Scrapbook Embellishment Handbook (Hardcover-spiral)
When I first got the book I skimmed through then decided to help my scrap-block I would pick a number and do whatever was on that page.. well I just opened the book to a page and was lost in the inspiration. I started flipping and reading all the ideas. It was especially great to see pages on eyelets, I definitely have those to use up! I have so many ideas now and not sure which to do first. This book would be perfect for using up your stash and it did help the mojo! I have tons of ideas, and am looking forward to incorporating flower confetti on a page.
another great book Sherry!
