5.0 out of 5 stars Out of ideas? GET THIS BOOK!

I have several craft and scrapping books, but this is the best one I have seen in a long time. I love that it's hardcover and LOVE that it has spiral bound pages so it lays flat!

3.0 out of 5 stars It's a book
Okay...so the reviews got me to buy this.....I know better, I know better, I definitely know better than to buy based on reviews. Nothing spectacular here. Nothing new, but was interesting to look through. As a source of inspiration for a kick start it would be an okay book to have around or for someone new to scrapbooking. I guess I already spend a lot of time...

5.0 out of 5 stars Out of ideas? GET THIS BOOK!, September 15, 2009
This review is from: The Scrapbook Embellishment Handbook (Hardcover-spiral)
Most of my scrap space is devoted to bits of "this" and pieces of "that". And sometimes I want to use the products in new ways...
enter in this book!
I have several craft and scrapping books, but this is the best one I have seen in a long time. I love that it's hardcover and LOVE that it has spiral bound pages so it lays flat!
I found new ideas from the first page!
The book is divided into sections based on embellishment types so it's a total reference you can turn to when you are looking for specific ideas for what you are creating with.
Each section is subdivided so you can try a new technique or idea when you want to simply create, kick it up a notch or if you are looking for something out of the box.
Every idea and technique has a layout where it has been used, with descriptions on how to achieve the look and detailed shots of the process when needed.
There is even a digital section.
I would definitely recommend this book if you:
1. like to scrap
2. like to craft in general
3. like good, well written and photographed craft/scrap books
4. like trying new techniques
5. need some new ideas
So if you said yes to any or all of the above I really do no think you would be disappointed adding this book to your scrapping references! You'll turn to it over and over :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Impressed!!, September 14, 2009
By
This review is from: The Scrapbook Embellishment Handbook (Hardcover-spiral)
I recently won this fabulous book by Sherry Stevenson. Honestly, I would have purchased it anyway!! Since we are being honest here, I have to say I was skeptical that I would actually learn anything. I purchase scrap books and magazines to be inspired by the lo's, not so much by the techniques. As far as techniques go (other than mixed media), I thought I was pretty abreast of them all. How WRONG could I be. Seriously, in the first couple of pages I was seeing things that I had never thought of trying. Believe me, I have other scrappers tell how creative I am in ideas.

Not that I am an old dog when it comes to scrapping because I've only been scrapping about 2 1/2 years now. However, I am a sponge and have soaked up everything I thought I possibly could. Again, WRONG!! This book actually surprised me. Yes, the work is fabulous - as I expected. Still I didn't expect to be wowed by new ideas.

In this book Sherry and the other artists take your normal, even hum-drum scrap supplies and make them extraordinary. Is it possible? Yes, that brad, button, chipboard... can be something very special! I can't wait to try some of these cool ideas. I almost feel guilty like I would be stealing, but hey, that's why Sherry wrote the book!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Must have, September 17, 2009
This review is from: The Scrapbook Embellishment Handbook (Hardcover-spiral)
When I first got the book I skimmed through then decided to help my scrap-block I would pick a number and do whatever was on that page.. well I just opened the book to a page and was lost in the inspiration. I started flipping and reading all the ideas. It was especially great to see pages on eyelets, I definitely have those to use up! I have so many ideas now and not sure which to do first. This book would be perfect for using up your stash and it did help the mojo! I have tons of ideas, and am looking forward to incorporating flower confetti on a page.

another great book Sherry!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sherry is the BOMB!, February 28, 2010
This review is from: The Scrapbook Embellishment Handbook (Hardcover-spiral)
This book is a must have! I love the organization of the book, the detailed instructions, the awesome examples from some really talented contributing artists, and the spiral binding make it so much easier to lay flat on your desk while you work. If you ever get the chance to take a class with Sherry, I highly recommend it. She is such a breath of fresh air and a genuinely nice person. The only thing I am wondering is where is Volume 2!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, February 12, 2010
This review is from: The Scrapbook Embellishment Handbook (Hardcover-spiral)
I just received my copy of The Scrapbook Embellishment Handbook. After a quick perusal of the contents I must say I am inspired. The example layouts are beautiful, the "new" ideas for the use of my embellishments abound. Many of the ideas are leading me to think of other possibilities, ways to use my embellishments and stretch my supplies even further.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST IDEAS FOR SCRAPBOOKING IN A LONG WHILE, September 23, 2009
This review is from: The Scrapbook Embellishment Handbook (Hardcover-spiral)
Go straight to checkout, do not pass go, do not collect $200. Well ok, if someone offers you $200, take it. Wait, find out what it's for. If he has extra, get some for me.

OMG. DO NOT START READING these before bed. DO NOT. At 2AM I was still reading. Nevermind that the alarm goes off at 6. I can work asleep.
I was SOOOOOOOOO stressed but I picked the books up, and OMG. OMG. I was wanting to scrap, too (since at that moment in my life I also hated digital scrapbooking) But those books - where was I???? I need to tell everyone I know about these. OMG.

YOU WILL LOVE THEM. I've taught scrapbooking for over a decade and thought I'd seen it all. buy Both her new book, Embellishments, and the Lemon book. AWESOME.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Greatest, June 24, 2010

This review is from: The Scrapbook Embellishment Handbook (Hardcover-spiral)
This book is absolutely fantastic.....once you open it, you can't put it down. And I love the spiral binding. You don't have to put something on the pages to hold the book open, it just lays there beautifully so you can see everything that you want to be doing. The book is organized in a way that you can find things easily; beginning, medium, harder, hardest..... Now I'm just frustrated that I don't have enough time to try everything right away. I know I'll be using this book for inspiration for a long time. Thanks, Sherry

5.0 out of 5 stars I read a Scrapbook Idea Book COVER to COVER!, September 1, 2011

I have been scrapbooking (and card making) now for over a decade. I have NEVER read an idea book from cover to cover -until this one!

Having a room stuffed full of embellishments, I love to play and try new techniques. Knowing how to color in, and out of, the lines and having been around the "idea book" block, I found this book especially surprising.

The Scrapbook Embellishment Handbook is a great fit for beginner and experienced paper crafters alike. It's to the point with each page introducing, explaining and giving examples of excellent techniques and laying open so nicely in a spiral bound hardcover. Organized brilliantly, the table of contents is appealing in and of itself to the crafter's eye with it's crispness. No sloppiness or clutter, just a well put together idea book with some sraplift worthy pages.

Yes, I have seen some of these ideas in various incarnations before, but there's a little twist on most of them offering something original. I was particularly taken with Ms. Steveson's many uses for transparencies. Many of those ideas I had never considered. And the "Chicago" page (pg 39) with the "popped" photo on chipboard letters! Fantastic!

I highly recommend, to any level of scrapbooker, this fresh idea book by Sherry Steveson. I will be looking into her other creations.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great resource, December 9, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Scrapbook Embellishment Handbook (Hardcover-spiral)
this book has a wealth of information. It really helped me to see the potential of my pages, especially with side by side comparisons of "Page" with "Page done our way". It got me off my phobia and finally got started creating!
